I think taking cash is exactly the wrong thing to do. Over here in the UK very few people who do this sort of job or who run temporary car parks take cash anymore as they are a sitting target for anyone who wants to rob them. It’s dangerous enough over here and we don’t have the guns that you guys do. Stick to taking the cards.

I'm subscribed to you and to several other channels where they tow, one of the being in Gatlinburg, Tennessee. Being a resort area there, they only take cash for illegal parks, whether for a drop fee or a tow to their yard. Angry people will use a card or a check, then dispute the charge or stop payment on a check. Most are from out of state, so they know it's hard to pursue payment. Been watching you for years, Johnny. You're the best.

The guy didn't care that he messed up other people's ability to pay by card, just as long as he got his car without following your company's procedures, even after you showed how secure that site was. I sincerely hope his actions come back to bite him in his a.s and I wish you had rubbed it in his face Johnny that being a cheapskate cost him $100 compared to the cheap cost of parking at the hospital. I watch a few towing channels, and - yes - very few seem to accept CC payments for illegal parking these days. All cash only. The reason being that people call their bank and do a stop payment really fast. Many of them also go the extra step of calling the local PD to run the tag as many people want to drive around these days without insurance or valid tags and so forth. Depending on the laws for a municipality, the impound may go to their lot instead. They will usually do a reimbursement once a week or so to the towing company for the towing fee as they see this as a way of making the roads safer for everyone. Laws vary greatly, needless to say!

Take their card and ID at the beginning so you have control - people do that at a store, bank, etc. anyways - then you charge it and have in your possession already to take pictures. Otherwise, you can deny dropping. That's the rules and just how it goes. However, still agree with your decision to go only cash. It's much better all around.
