I remember watching this when it aired. Michael Parkinson as an interviewer has never been bettered. I just love Paul.

I totally agree, Parkinson was the gold standard for this type of chat show interview. Thanks for commenting :-)

I love the chemistry between Parky (best interviewer in the business, by far) and Paul (most successful popular singer ever). A large part of their rapport comes from the fact that they're both from working class, Northern English backgrounds and they are totally tuned into each other's sense of humour. Tremendous interview.

The possibly coolest thing about this is David Gilmour playing the rhythm guitar, almost invisibly.

I thought I saw David Gilmour and thought, It couldn't have been him, so thanks for confirming that. Didn't notice Ian Paice. I'll have to see this again. 😂 Parkinson always so excellent, so sad to hear he is no longer with us and Paul is a great storyteller. Thanks for this.

Wow man thank you for this upload! I’ve never seen it before. Every few months or so I go through a Beatles obsession where I want to see if there is anything out I haven’t heard, read or seen. This is huge! Holy crap that is a super group

You're very welcome, glad you enjoyed it. It was an amazing band that he had on the Run Devil Run album and it's great they played live on a few TV shows in this period. Here's a link to the Jools Holland appearance just in case that is of interest to you: kzbin.info/www/bejne/eJeodI1uf9Cjp6M Thanks for commenting :-)

When it comes to discussing Linda’s death he seems to be quite pragmatic in how he talks about it. I remember thinking the same thing about his reaction to John’s assassination. I think it’s a kind of defence mechanism, keeping up a barrier rather than letting the raw emotion burst out.

Paul McCartney doesn't have an older brother or a twin. He has a younger brother, two years younger actually but yes his name is Michael but no need to put it in quotes
