Hi Ron - Bodmin has Some Very Serious Architecture and Imposing Buildings - when I look at the Materials and See how they’ve been Utilised it leaves me in Awe wondering how it Could have been Achieved. A New Gateway was Cut into the Wall of the Prison when it was transformed to an Upmarket Hotel recently, which Revealed the Thickness and Density of the Structure. I have to Say You Missed an Absolute Treat by Not Visiting the Station, the Station Staff Are so Chatty and Friendly, and the Cuppa Tea and Cake in the Buffet Was Heavenly, which set me up for the Bike Ride back to Wadebridge. Great Film Many thanks 🙏🏻

Hi Donni, we are back to the skill and pride of the Victorian Builders again. They built things to last. I have visited the station and ridden on the train, great day out. Keep smiling. Ron

Best wishes to Ron's wife. That looked a delightful bus trip to Bodmin, though I'd forgotten the town has a heritage line link to GWR Bodmin Parkway. Looking forward to visiting Bridgnorth next week, since it's many years since my last visit - by bus from Wolverhampton.

Hi Ron Hope all is well. Nice to see you out in the garden and avoiding the showers !. Ah the floral dance. I have a pic on my wall that was taken when mum and dad took me in about 1965. Happy days. Mind you Cornwall has changed so much since then and is now one of the most deprived areas of Britain. Best wishes for Ron's wife from Tanya and myself. Stay safe Pete

Hi Ron. A very enjoyable trip around Bewdley Station, which seems to have a slightly different vibe than the earlier ones. Lots to see and plenty of railwayana on display. That steam loco you showed was withdrawn in 2000 due to a badly leaking boiler, as you say, awaiting restoration. A big thank you to all you lovely folks who sent your support to my wife Debs. She has come through her first chemo cycle OK, but it knocked her off her feet for a few hours. Recovered now and back at work. Your support is much appreciated. Catch up with you soon, Ron🙂

Hello again Ron - greetings from Poland I must admit, I paniced earlier this morning. Turned on my laptop, ready to eat my porridge whilst watching your Friday Vlog - nothing! Thanks for the message putting my mind at rest. Please thank Pauline for the wonderful floral display in your garden. Mags saw it too and promptly exclaimed that we needed more colour in ours - night scented stocks said I. No chance said Mags - can't get them in Poland. As we all are getting older, news seems to be a bit sad. Lets all try and be positive - our glasses should be half full and not half empty At about eight and a quarter minutes into todays vlog, I heard what sounded like like a giant mosquito flying around. On second thoughts, it might have been one of yoyr neighbours using a strimmer - how rood during filming!
@ParkinsonsWalks4 ай бұрын
Hi Michael, I was about to go for a dental appointment when I read your comment, if you hadn't sent it I wouldn't have known and been able to rectify it early. Thank you. We suspect Trev has gone into the strimmer business. You are so right about half full not empty. I try but it is not always easy. Keep Smiling. Ron

Hello Ron. I am well behind with everything as usual - sorry! Been an extremely busy few days - I am currently watching this on a train to Cornwall to catch up with my daughter. I was so sorry to hear about Ron's wife and recent diagnosis. I do wish her well. Another great vlog round up there Ron - always great to hear everyone's comments. Thank you for the mention too. I had a good time yesterday at the Bristol Harbour Festival - I hadn't intentionally gone to see it - I wanted to film the Bristol Harbour Steam Railway in action for an explore of that line, and, coincidentally, it was on at the same time. Fabulous seeing the steam powered boats and the replica of The Mathew in action. Loved your film club. I uses buses a fair bit - I hate car travel - an evil necessity occasionally and unfortunately. Busses around urban areas like Bristol tend to be good and the flat fare at £2 is excellent - cheaper than parking alone. However rural bus provision is poor - it is a bit chicken and egg - because the services are poor, few people use them,so the services remain poor....how to break that cycle? I remember doing The Severn Way to Upton on Severn in Worcestershire - the last bus to Worcester was at 2.30pm in the afternoon - dreadful! Upton is a tourist town and deserves a much better service than that. Hope you and all the Parkinsons Walks family have a great week. Take care, Paul..

Hi Paul, with your schedule I'm surprised you find the time to watch my channel at all, Thank you. Isn't it great when you stumble on some treat you weren't expecting, lovely. We are in the bus conundrum. Five a day, one very early, one very late and three that don't integrate with any other service. Take care, keep smiling. Ron

Hi Ron, that's your best shirt yet, well done. I'm sorry about the delay this week, my sister was in hospital for five days with a leaky appendix...too hot to operate on yet but I've been biking to visit her each day while she gets antibiotic-ed, and that, combined with you-know-who is keeping me a bit busy...yes, I know it's not all about me...still, it would be nice to sleep in. I found time to haul home several pieces of a railway signal tower that had been cut up and disposed of near here. The pieces are all about 4 feet long and are much heavier than they look, being mostly 5 inch iron pipe and iron ladder. I could have hired a truck but, well, you know. Five trips and as many heart palpitations and it's almost all here. Now I just need to learn how to weld so I can piece it back together to support my semaphore signal as a garden feature...anything to annoy the neighbours. OVM is excited about Bridgenorth, we have one of those here and I think she's confused. Right, bed, have a good week Ron and good to see the woman behind the man, hi Pauline.
@ParkinsonsWalks4 ай бұрын
Hi James, Pauline says hello. How on earth are you going to assemble the signal tower if it needs welding, unless you can get and drill metal straps to bridge between sections. Do you need the additional work? I can just imagine you wobbling with a section on your bike. 'Hire a truck!' that costs money, hernias are cheap. Please pass on our good wishes to your sister, ask her if she can retain a hospital bed for you whilst she is there, sounds like you might need one soon. Have fun. Ron

Good morning Ron. We always like your garden. So pretty. Bus passes are very useful. They enable free travel for we oldies. Best thing the government ever did for us. Lovely church with Pauline taking the starring role. Why don't you give her the camera occasionally, then we could watch you as well. Stay well and safe.

Hi Lionel, we mainly use our buss pass when we are in Cornwall. You can study the bus drivers art down those narrow lanes. Trust me Lionel, you don't need me on screen any more than necessary! Take care, Ron

Resuming contact Ron after a too long absence. I enjoyed the nostalgic look at Bodmin; I dread to think how long since my last visit. I am glad that I have some fellow devotees of the Election results. I too stayed up until the bitter end. After so many years as a Presiding Officer at election followed by the Count, old habits die hard.. I do miss knowing the result before the candidates do though

Mornin’ Ron, First of best wishes for Ron’s wife I sincerely hope she has a swift recovery. We know Trev flies and that he’s got a drone, has he moved on to a circular saw too? If he’s on the ground I think I might get him with one of my torpedos …….. I’m sure there must have been Bovril ads at the football grounds but I just remember drinking it. I will have a look at my collection of Football League Review Magazines from the 60s and 70s. In one of them it relates a story sent in by my Dad who wrote in to tell them how he had managed to avoid selling a spare cup final ticket to the touts, a prized magazine in my collection. You were lucky to get Imagine past the KZbin gods mind you I’m sure John wouldn’t have minded. We are in the middle of a heatwave with temperatures into the 40’s and down to about 30° in the night. Last night we went to see a film projected in the outdoors in the Alhambra Palace gardens. To get there you have to walk through the adjacent woods which was such a relief. We live boxed up in in ovens so no wonder its hot. Have a great weekend!!
@ParkinsonsWalks4 ай бұрын
Hi David, I'm sure Trev will be getting a complex soon. I bet the hot Bovril was most welcome whilst watching a winter game, just a memory now as you swelter under 40 degree heat. 30 is too much for me these days, how do you cope? Stay cool. Ron

@@ParkinsonsWalks He loves the banter Ron!! Lucky for us we are in a semi-rural area and we often get a fresh breeze but in the city it's far worse. You have to be up early to get anything done and then hide from the sun ....

Hi Ron. What a beautiful background you had for today’s chat. I do agree about the lovely signs around the station. They are big enough to read unlike the signs with station names on nowadays. Even when it’s a long sign the print is really small and does not fill the sign. Who designed those do you think? Certainly not someone my age. It’s very difficult to work out where you are on unfamiliar territory. Second thing why were there no signs for MARMITE? So many for Bovril and I think they have both been going a long time. It was very interesting to see today’s trip by bus to Bodmin. We went there a couple of times and there was always something to watch on the station, shunting, rolling stock etc so I am a bit ashamed to say we never left the station. I hope the lady with early diagnosis of cancer gets excellent treatment. We never know what’s round the corner. Probably just as well. Thank you. Bye from the elder sister and hope you both have a good week.

Hi Marilyn, hope you are well, the head gardener liked your garden comment, she will be strutting about all day now. Interesting observation on Marmite, short answer, I don’t know! We have travelled on the steam train from Bodmin on a memorable day out which involved us falling on to the train not off it. My fault of course. Lovely to hear from our elder sister, take care of yourself. Pauline & Ron

Hi Ron, I wondered if you used your bus pass? We never use them because our busses are few and far between. Although we have had many a good experience of park and ride it is one of the few regular bus services that survives today. Bodmin looks definitely worth a visit but was the crime and punishment compulsory, Bodmin Goal was foreboding I hear.
