Hi Ron. Funny, we got the same snow here on Wednesday. It fell between the time I arrived at work and when I was leaving. I proceeded with caution on my bike, but with home almost in sight I hit an ice patch, lost control and ended with with you-know-what over tea kettle on the road. With a cat-like recovery however, I got up before anyone saw me, although if anyone had, I'm sure they would have thought that such a magnificent maneuver was done entirely on purpose with the sole intent to impress rather than alarm. I walked to work today. Thanks for the nice visit Ron, and another chance to see your beautiful countryside. Take care and have a good week. James

Another lovely walk, Ron, which your younger brother(?) seemed to enjoy very much. Amazing to think that the 1782 bridge, although not especially ancient by English standards, is many years older than the earliest building here in New Zealand.

Good Morning Ron and greetings from Poland Great to hear from PWs family members, both old and new. People come and go over the years but your contributors remain constant which in my opinion proves just what a fantastic channel you have created. The walk along the Thames was lovely. Very peaceful. Far different than the journey I'm following with a guy called Ed Pratt on KZbin. He's in his mid twenties and some years ago cycled round the world on a unicycle, filming his journey as he went He's now galloping the Thames from source to the sea, without leaving the watercourse itself, except to sleep. Fascinating acting to watch - I recommend it Next week's film of Mike's model railway sounds very exciting - looking forward to this very much

Hi Michael, hope you are well. I think it is you contributors that make the channel what it is, I just give it a platform. Thanks for the heads-up on the Thames journey, I think he might be slightly fitter than me!! Take care. Ron

Hello from your armchair railway and canal enthusiast in Cheshire. It’s so enjoyable hearing news from all the other enthusiasts. So glad to hear Debbie has come through this stage and hoping everything goes well in future. And also everyone else’s ailments. It was very nice to have a walk around Lechlade and see some of the places we walked round in the past. My husband loved the old tools. And I liked the bakery! The river was looking very tranquil but expect it was very busy 150 years ago. My Ukrainian guest had written one digit on her application form down wrong, so they wouldn’t do anything and she has had to re apply. And do the 12 hour journey in reverse. It’s so easy to do that when copying a long number and I’ve done it many times. I went to Stafford and had a platform picnic in the sun which was really nice. Latte, egg and cress sandwich and maple flapjack accompanied by several passing freights. Then I discovered there were signalling problems further south so went for my Cross Country return and the train came in absolutely crammed right to the doors and someone said there was another one 10 minutes behind so opted for that one and it was half empty so I was glad I had waited. Then we were diverted via a little used line between Stafford and Stone and went into Macclesfield to a little used platform 3 which is surprisingly still there as the train was turning round there instead of going on to Manchester. Fine for me but annoying for anyone who wanted to go further and even more annoying for those waiting in Manchester for this train to go south. An interesting day for the elder sister in the armchair. I think there will be a lot of that this weekend as we have a storm approaching but it will make me get on with the Christmas cards. See you next week although I am still to be converted on model railways and prefer one I can sit on. 🎄

Hi Marilyn I hope you are nice and cosy there, it sounds like it. Hard to believe Your Ukrainian guest is being held up by a one digit error. Why didn’t they just correct it and carry on, they have suffered enough over there. More memories of happy days out with your husband, lovely, I hope it doesn’t make you too melancholy. And in the end you managed to get out for a ride around and visit a cafe, sounds grand. I bet station cafe sales have soared since you started posting. Batten down the hatches for the storm, very windy here at the moment, Make sure Maisie is safe. Take care. Ron

Good morning Ron! Great vlog catch up from all of the Parkinson's Walks family. Hope that Debs operation (Ron's wife from Abandoned Railways Channel) has gone well and smoothly. Thank you for the mention. What a delightful walk around Lechalde on Thames - a lovely riverside Gloucestershire town. Nice to see that lovely roundhouse on the T&S at Inglesham again. Hope you have a good week. Take care, Paul

Nice to see Lechlade again after some 25 years. I was stationed at nearby RAF Brize Norton back in the late 1990's and frequently went to Lechlade and Faringdon in my spare time. The village and area don't seem to have changed much. I wonder if that lovely Chipshop is still on the Burford road.? 🙋

Afternoon Ron. A lovely bit of filming and it just makes you want to be out . There's something about either being high up or by water. This Morning Syd and myself were up on the Chilterns and soon the afternoon walk will be by some water. There's ment to be Bittern overwintering in the local reed beds so you never know . Stay safe and keep warm. Pete Tanya and Syd

Lechlade is a delightful old riverside town. How long will it be before some of the craft moored along its riverbank, are able to negotiate the lock at Inglesham, and after some 30-plus miles, join the Gloucester Ship Canal at Saul Junction? That indeed, will be a day to celebrate!

An interesting walk along the Thames which was coincidental in that we’d just watched Ed Pratt (another KZbinr) start a journey along the Thames from source to sea. Mind you he’s walking in the river and then switching to a canoe from Lechlade onwards.

Good afternoon Ron. Exciting(?) times here being in the red warning zone for the latest storm. In fact I had two alerts from the government warning system that was rolled out earlier in the year. As predicted, the very high winds started at 03:00 this morning and were worse than anything I have ever experienced. It was reported by the Met Office as gusting between 145 - 160 km per hour!! I slept downstairs in my sleeping bag as, if a tree was going to come down through the roof, I didn't want to be upstairs! A check outside just now showed that the only effect the wind had was to blow the winter protective cover off of my garden bench and it is now lying in the corner of the lawn. I consider myself to have got off very lightly, I'm sure others will have suffered more greatly. Thank you for today's video of your walk around Lechlade. I have passed through on my walks a few times, primarily to stop for some lunch in pub! It is indeed a lovely location and you portrayed the area very well and hopefully it will encourage those who are able to visit. It seems that as David was unable to produce a letter from his mum to say that he would be late this week, because the dog ate it (really??), he decided to make the effort and be on time after all 😆😅😂. I hope you enjoy your weekend in Madrid David 🙂👍. Thanks again for this week's video Ron and I very much look forward to Mike's model railway video next week. Best regards to you, Pauline and all the PW family. Trev

Hi Trev, what an experience that wind must must have been, thank goodness you are safe (so far, it's not over yet). I doubt you will be doing much railway work this weekend. I think David should feed that dog more often. Lechlade is a beautiful place to walk I agree. Take good care of yourself. Ron

Hi Trev, just been having a look at the photos of the damage left by the storm, you did the right thing sleeping downstairs, I think. That same storm front is bringing wintery weather down here too. Just off to catch train home now. All the best!!

Hello Ron. Before you ask. Mary has been to Lechlade on many occasions! Haha. That was filmed in warmer times, by the looks of things. Very pretty river and bridges, apart from the small bridge with no hand rail. We haven't done any videos for a while, but must try and get one out before Christmas. Take care of yourselves.

Afternoon Ron, You know I think I was first up to watch in the end. We arrived late in Madrid last night and I heard matters arising first thing but decided to watch the walk later in the afternoon. Good news and progress for Debs and Ron!! Plenty of interesting comments from all the group and all round the world too. Lovely walk along the riverbank you did well to avoid the cows. That blockhouse, was it a pillbox built in case of an invasion? We've got a couple of days in Madrid and return Sunday night on the HST, tonight we go and see Grease, still popular almost 50 years later. Have a great weekend
