@ChristopherBrekke5 ай бұрын
@@leo-io5vg I wouldn't call them idiots. Some people prefer simplicity because they don't want to dedicate the time into it. Just think of a game you find fun, but you're not interested in exploring it too deep. So, it's not the player's fault The problem is that Ubi wants to accommodate the lowest common denominator but doesn't leave enthusiasts players an "advanced" options thus alienating a huge part of their audience. A good example of catering to both is Spider-Man 2's web-swinging where they listened to their players and added advanced options but kept the simplicity for the casual players who wanted more flow

Thank you! Though this isn't a striving of any of us old school fans to have Unity parkour in the old schools. I personally despise what Unity parkour concretely does to the franchise and the games, and this only returns some features to the games that unity happens to have, that we like the execution of WITHIN the context of the old schools. The old schools already had the best movement out there, and this is shown by just how functional ejects and ledge grabs are in these games, which are vanilla features, even if later enhanced by faster cancel timings for certain grab contexts

I never thought to check to see if a mod like this existed untiil now. I just booted it up and am getting to grips with the binds slowly but its very strange throwing new stuff into my decade old muscle memory lol. My favourite moves as a kid were always the horse flips so to be able to do it manually is amazing. @@animusdrifter Alright cool I'll turn it way down then. And yes absolutely I agree, I watched your guide video where you go in depth with the pros/cons of the 'restricted' binds. I've always strived to choreo runs that make feasible sense for Ezio, I honestly am pretty good at vanilla parkour but this mod just blows it out the water. One of my favourite spots I've been looping recently is the area East of the Pantheon containing the Borgia tower(the one with walkable rope extending from it's midpoint). Some great prospective horse flips and super hop beam landings in the mid to lower ground areas over there. I think I'll take the mod here first. That is to say that I'm definitely going to be utilising this mod preferring fluidity and the laws of physics over just arbitrarily gaining vertical height etc I'm really enjoying your videos, finally someone else out there who acknowledges Altair and Ezio era as the masterpieces they are, I honestly thought I was alone at this point

Hmmm, very good, but it looks like the back eject to side grab happens a bit too frequently, not sure if it's intentional, but almost every jump was interrupted by a side grab. In terms of technical ability, it looks incredible, but in terms of a coherant parkour line, it looks all over the place, I'd like to see how well it works with a set end point and comparative to just running to that point (or rather, unmodded traversal to it).
@animusdrifter5 ай бұрын
Thank you! And indeed, every detail of this run was intentional and preplanned. I can see why you'd consider there to be an overabundance of grabs paired into ejects, but the showcased combos serve multiple purposes: to show off the absolutely insane speed gains caused by the mod allowing for instant eject rebounds after ANY grab type (that lands Ezio's feet onto the wall, ofc), to showcase the insane benefits of an always accessible, properly done omnidirectional ledge grab (something Ubi haven't given us since the classics, botching ledge grab more and more over time), and lastly, to connect up different parts of the parkour run in the fastest way possible in a couple locations, especially when paired with climb leaps which are also affected by the new rebound speed, regardless of grab type. On top of choreographies not always serving the sole purpose of making the fastest way between the run's absolute start and end point (most choreographies focused on expression don't even get close to this), the purpose of this one was to maintain a sense of flow while pushing traversal velocity, and showing the strength of certain optimizations on their own, more local level, rather than that of the entire city. - Especially considering most players won't have a level of map knowledge good enough to always instantly hit the right road to actually make a speed benefit, making taking to the rooftops a far more practical approach, as is if you're trying to achieve fast relocation on a local, vertically focused level, rather than long distances. If this ran modless, the entire routing would have to change, which would render the run's original route unusable, and various close alternatives either far less engaging on an expressive level, or outright flow-breaking due to multiple connectors being swings on NSOs and platform overhangs. Still, I definitely wouldn't push the grab into eject combos any more than I have in this video, as it does already border on repetition that would be best avoided for any other choreo purpose, so thank you for the feedback

I get what you mean! Though I don't think there's a high chance it'll happen, sadly. Another great run, nonetheless! :D edit: Also, I love the early jump to vault on that chimney. It gives me the same vibes as early jump to hookblade catch ledge in ACR.
