Thank for a lovely tour. I was fortunate enough to visit this garden about five years ago from England. I cannot praise Portland Japanese garden enough. Membership is a great idea as you gain entry ahead of the general public, where you can take full advantage of the wonderful atmosphere and peace of this extraordinary garden : )

This leaves me no choice but to create the finest American garden in Japan. I’m going to need a lot of garden globes and gnomes

Loved the garden tour and your insights into the design elements that can be incorporated into your own garden. My big takeaway from today's video is using the vertical space to your advantage - turning what I have been perceiving as a negative into an interesting design feature. Thank you 😁

I feel like you can’t find a finer example of forced perspective than the koi pond. They stopped so much into a steeply sloping hillside and made it feel like it was a huge garden when it’s actually fairly small.

Oh, also, we visited 2 years ago. Beautiful place. Loved the black bamboo “forest”.

Thank you for including information about access, I’m in the uk so won’t ever visit, but disability/access is so often forgotten about with reviews on gardens 💚

Truly this garden is a national treasure. I may try that path idea to stretch my pavers in my "formal" garden.

I used to visit the Portland Japanese Garden many years ago and enjoyed it immensely. It looks like it has evolved some since then but it still looks beautiful.

So many times japanese gardens are associated with a sister city in japan, for example Seattle’s garden is associated with sister city, Kobe, anyone know which city in japan is a sister city to Portland
