Solid top 10 ride for me too. I don't think people realise how lucky they are to have Twisted Colossus, X2 and Ghost Rider all in one city. All they need is a proper B&M Hyper or Giga to complete the package.

Thank you for posting this and giving Twisted Colossus the props it truly deserves. By giving it a high rating it keeps the spirit of classic Colossus alive. To me the spirit of classic Colossus lives in Twisted Colossus. I do agree that Twisted Colossus is not for the feint of heart and believe it or not classic Colossus when it first opened wasn’t either. I first rode the classic version in 1981 or 1982 and back then it really was a force to be reckoned with. But I fell in love. Anyway over the years I stopped going to the park altogether and developed a fear of roller coasters. Then due to ongoing health issues it was no longer safe for me to ride coasters even if I wanted to. This sadly kept me from riding the classic version one last time which I regret. However after several years of lifestyle changes my health has dramatically improved but my fear did not. Until recently. I visited the park and spend the entire day getting in line only to chicken out at the last minute. I am not sure what changed but I rode my first time on the twisted version with a teenage kid who kept telling me it’s completely safe and I have nothing to be afraid of. Truly? That made at lot of sense since I had already ride Viper, Wonder Woman, Riddler’s Revenge, and West Coast Racers so what was the problem with Twisted Colossus? Anyway that teenager I rode with made it so much easier and that much more fun.

I love this ride, it's like getting 2 rides in one. I also rode the original which was a beast in its day. For those who never got a chance to ride the original I have a meditation to connect to the original. (For now): The scent of the coaster has not changed, especially on the lift hill. It's the aroma of chain grease and dried wood filling the air. Next time you're on it just know that riders over the last 50 years smelled what you're smelling!

Maybe during the off season. During spring and summer they need to move people as quick as possible because of long lines.

I just got done with Batman, west coast, new revolution. I was terrified, but after doing those I realized I wasn’t as bad. Went on twisted colossus and that drop killed me, but the rest of the ride was very nice.

Love this ride, it’s my number 3, outlaw run just barely beats it out purely because of setting and night rides, and ghost rider is my number 1 for very similar reasons you love twisted colossus. It’s the ride that got me into coasters, and honestly it’s just legendary.

@thecoastergnome86033 жыл бұрын
@@Miniluvsyou right. It might just be the perfect wooden coaster. It is the perfect amount of rough. It has airtime, it has laterals. It’s got everything. Plus I honestly think I like wooden coaster better then steal. (Unless it’s an RMC) the shaky nature of the wood just adds so much to the thrill factor.

I agree that our Twisted Colossus should not be your first coaster. Even the OG Colossus shouldn’t have been your first. I guess it still scares people just like the OG used to scare people back in the day. It doesn’t get boring for me. It’s just familiar just like any coaster can be after a while

My Brother and I went to Magic Mountain on the final day Colossus was open to the public. We decided to try to get on the last train and started to let people cut us until someone started to complain that we couldn't do that. We told him that cutting was not allowed but allowing people to cut was but he refused to go ahead of us. Worked out for us as we got the front row seat on the second to last train of the night. After the first cycle, we were chanting let's go again and the sent us which was cool. When we came back to the station a 2nd time, we got the whole train shouting Iron Colossus. I suspected Colossus would get the Iron Horse treatment (name at the time) that Iron Rattler received prior. The Park President was standing in the station, (at least I'm pretty sure it was her.) and her look she gave us was like "How could you possibly know what our plan is?" I have ridden Colossus many times before that night, but that night was the greatest ride I have ever had. I remember pretending to have an oar and rowing as we slowly crept through the long drawn out turns. But that night, we flew through the course. Maybe the trims were off, I don't know. One thing I do know, that night turned me from a Thrill Seeker to a Coaster Enthusiast. I just wish I got to ride Colossus back in its heyday before all of the modifications it went under and before they only started running one side.

Since I’m a huge fan of steampunk, and the Steampunk custom made music playing in the background, I can confirm that the ScreamPunk District fits super well with me! Anyways Merry Christmas everyone!

Love this ride. As a ride op myself it bugs me that guests take so long to store their loose articles. If they know it’s a dueling ride I think they should try harder to make it one. Then again I’m sure more GP don’t know than do know so

Ops give a time limit for the GP to board, as well for the other ops to do restraint checks. If another train hits the brakes they announce "no duel"

Twisted is one off my favorites too. I did ride the original Colossus and RMC really made it a great ride. The original wooden was rough at times with pretty slow turn around at the top. It was cool that Six Flags has a marathon day for the original ride before it closed. My kids liked the ride too. As soon as they hit 48" they were on this ride (and X2).

I'm on of those that's team Green specifically for that top gun stall, favorite moment in the park for me overall. I find the blue side to be a bit more intense and that zero g roll always catches me by surprise, but the airtime makes up for it.
