Lyrics:
What will you tell your children when they ask you "what went wrong"
How can you paint a picture of a paradise lost
To eyes that know only a wasteland
How will you justify watching the world die
The clock is ticking, can't you feel our days are numbered
Head first into disaster from which there will be no return
With narrow minds we decimate our one true home
Cast into oblivion, judgment is calling
Behold the pale horse
This is the funeral of the Earth
Behold the pale horse
This is the funeral
The blind eye can no longer be cast
The clock is ticking, there is no second chance
The blind eye can no longer be cast
There will be no future, if we can't learn from our mistakes
The clock is ticking, there is no second chance
There will be no future, if we can't learn
A forced extinction closes out the age of apathy
The final act, sacrifice the world's ecology
The death of beauty, the death of hope
Cast before the throne of avarice, judgment is calling
Behold the pale horse
This is the funeral of the Earth
Behold the pale horse
This is the funeral
The blind eye can no longer be cast
There will be no future, if we can't learn from our mistakes
The clock is ticking, there is no second chance
There will be no future, if we can't learn
I can't watch it burn
Behold the pale horse

Samuel Connett That's deep
@argonoth75
@argonoth75 7 жыл бұрын
Samuel Connett agreed. Pop and rap songs are usually shallow. The biggest reason i love metal is specifically because the message is usually deep and meaningful and the vocals capture the deep emotions rap and pop rarely do. So many metal songs are about shit that matters and about problems in the world that need to change, SOME rap and pop songs speak of deep things but most don't whereas most metal songs do and the lyrics are more complex and interesting, the fact that rap and pop are so popular proves that most of us still aren't willing to face the deep and dark problems that plague humanity and would rather live a shallow life ignoring it all. What a sad state we're in.

Why are people complaining about BMTH in the comments? Why compare them? I love them both, Parkway were the first band to ever get me into heavy music years ago, and I've come across BMTH along the way, and now they're both my favourite bands. Sure they're different, they're meant to be. They've both been around for 10 years now and both deserve respect for how much they've contributed to the metalcore genre and the progress it's made.

Even almost a decade later, this song is sanctified to its very core. Almost a decade later, and this song is absolutely still relevant. It can be taken figuratively, literally, whatever, and it still holds a similar message all the same. What a staple in history and hopefully a source of hope in times to come.

Not that there's anything wrong with having "softer" songs though, surely? You look at some of the best Melodic metal bands out there who play heavy riffs with crunchy choruses and even they have acoustics in their songs as well. PWD from what I can hear are branching the gap between having heavy melodic songs and softer ones. Best of both world if you ask me because the softer songs will create a nice atmosphere in a live setting.

Corey Morrison You have to understand that there are A LOT of kids watching this video and are in the mindset of "Oh wow, Im so depressed, my life sucks" (despite the fact that they more than likely have a roof over their heads constanly have been given the chance to be helped if they truely are suffering from something). I think that is what MINIWEATMAN was aiming at.
@Corboy6
@Corboy6 9 жыл бұрын
KryptikCpu No one has been saying that, so his comment is still being pulled out of nowhere. Also, depression isn't as simple as that. You can have perfect opportunities offered to you and still be depressed. It's a mental illness that creeps up on anyone. Unfortunately, thanks to social media sites (I'm looking at you Tumblr), having depression has been romanticised to the point where it is almost something that people subconsciously desire. That's why we have a lot of teenagers who aren't genuinely depressed claiming that they are and probably believing it too. There's probably some that have totally convinced themselves so much so that they've actually become depressed. The mind is funny how it works like that.

MrKrayzeeKrysis Yeah he was amazing and he had some damn balls to go on there in front of those pretentious judges and do what he did. I find Britain's Got Talent to be a very pointless show because they shower those who can sing what they call "real music" but disregard people with this kind of musical talent. But what can you expect from people that came expecting pop music, I guess.
@theparadiddlydoo2771
@theparadiddlydoo2771 9 жыл бұрын
ScrewedForTheCentury Exactly and that dude would of been better off doing that song with an actual band instead of himself. It would of just seemed more natural to the judges. I only saw him perform the song on Britain's Got Talent but I hope he explained to the judges (beforehand) that "this song i'm about to cover hasn't been done before and it's not a very popular genre of music that is performed through this show". You know what I mean? Letting the audience and judges know that it's something that is unheard of in amongst the mainstream music that people cover on that show.
