Colin, I am a power lineman, and we deal with lightning strikes on a regular basis. The ground Tom put in was a good idea, although I wonder about using rigging as a conductor. Look up distribution electrical lighting protection for ideas on how to re-dierect the 500k volts away from your computers and systems. I would recommend a master disconnect switch to isolate everything during storms, as well as a copper lighting rod connected to a cable to re-direct the electricity to ground, in this case, the ocean.
