So he said, man I'm Gary Shider and I play with The Funkadelics, and my homeboy said whats up. So we went out to his Van, and he cooked his bump up and blasted/smoked it. He told us, I'm going back in the club and get on the stage with Magga Brain, they were a local group. He got his guitar 🎸 and got on stage with Magga Brain and funked the place up. I was 10 years old in 1976 living in Savannah, GA when I went to the Civic Center and was Blessed to be able to see the Mothership land on stage. It was UNBELIEVABLE! I have a son who is 30 years old now (who loves Parliament Funkadelic music) and often ask me how it was growing up in the late 70's and early 80's. I always tell him that it was a great time for R&B/Soul/Funk music. He always says that he wished that he was able to have lived during that ERA. Key Word....LIVED....we lived guys....we have an incredible "Ride" during those times....great years...great music...great fun....Thank God someone was able to record and seal this and many other timeless moments so that we can give the "young folk" a mere glimpse of HOW WE GOT DOWN!! This dude was so powerful singing. So soulful. God must of needed him in his choir for him to die in his 20’s. The great always die young. Rest In Peace on the Mothership!!!

Glen Goons was one of the greatest, underrated musicians ever. Listen to that voice!! and he was a monster guitarist on top of that voice. Died way to young so most of you watching this never got a chance to experience this man live. What a loss NOT from drugs but natural causes, really around for a short time on this earth RIP Glen Goins....

Olympia Stadium - Detroit, MI 1976. The best concert I have ever seen! The vibe took me a place that I have no words to describe! I was too young to drink or get high. I can't imagine what it was like for those that truly rode on the mothership!

I had my tickets, my juice and my leafs, ready to board the Mothership via (MSG) way back in (1977) 2 weeks before EWF'S arrival and they CANCELLED, they CANCELLED, due to a death in the group! I saw them in "75 -78 and 79, but I never witnessed the Holy Landing of the Mothership, until now, special thanks funkyfrog51 for allowing me to witness one of the greatest concerts EVER!

I get kinda jealous of the generation before mine because they got to see this type of stuff as it happened. Funk was some dope shit, and George Clinton made it amazing. Thankfully, rap kept it (and most of the music my parents grew up on) alive.
