I'm a guy originally from somerset Kentucky, and I was raised part of my childhood in Cincinnati, Ohio, where my mom was from. I had wonderful grandparents from my dad's side who were a great influence in my life. My grandparents died in 2021. I love them and miss them. I'm proud to be both a country and city guy mixed together. I am not ashamed of me and my family being a good country Christian family. I like both country and rock music. Some rap music, too. This song makes me think of my family genetics, especially where our ancestors came from.

I sure do love this song. This song reminds me of my Grandpa John, my Grandpa John served in the Navy in WWII, I never got to meet him, he was killed in a car accident before I was born. I never got to hear him tell me stories of how he was in the war and in the Navy. I am so very very proud of my Grandpa John. I'm so glad that God let my Grandpa John be my Grandpa, and I'm so glad that God put my Grandpa in my life. My Grandpa John, he is my very, very favorite hero!!!! Whenever I hear and listen to this song, I'll always think of my Grandpa John. I sure do love you so much Grandpa John.

I totally get this song it's so true. I am a southern girl with deep family roots. Some people can say my connection my roots are strong for one place. Me I feel that connection with my hometown but those deep southern roots from my family I feel those too, can't say one place, but my farm, ranch, country family is strong but also my mountain family.

I'm originally from GA, but live in Ohio now! It's just not the same here. My family has been in Ga since 1820 something, and I'm the first to leave! Still wondering why! It just seems like they aren't as family oriented up here! God I miss GA! Sorry for the rant, the song made me do it!

I'm still running 33s up underneath this truck Even though rush hour concrete is the only place I'm getting stuck Ain't on the farm no more but on a stretch of sunny days I still catch myself looking up at the sky Praying for a little rain No I can't outrun these roots Even if I wanted to 'Cause they run too strong, run too deep Cutting right through the heart of me No it don't matter where I plant these boots Can't outrun these roots I can't outrun these roots. There's still that back-home part of me, That can't help but see things a little differently Like how there ain't no need To put a 'G' on the end of huntin' or fishin' And I still got granddaddy's bible His old rifle and his name But I also got his pour a little more Coarsin' through my veins Thank God I can't They're tangled up in every part of who I am Without 'em I know I don't stand a chance I can't outrun these roots
