Criticism on Parmenides 1- Firstly, The critics argue that Parmenides himself was not clear about his own conception of Being. He, on the one hand, argued that Being is indestructible, unchangeable, no beginning and no end, indivisible, not in any place or time, and the only quality Being possess is “isness". These characteristics compel one to think of Parmenides as an Idealist. However, on the second hand, Parmenides also argued that Being is globe shaped and is finite. Now, such arguments directs one to think of Parmenides as a materialist. Because anything which has a certain shape and is finite is certainly a matter. Hence, the contradiction arises about the conception of Being, whether Parmenides thought of Being as Ideal Being or Material Being. Therefore, the critics argue that Parmenides himself was not clear about his conception of Being. 2- Secondly, Parmenides believed that empty space doesn't exist. Here, critics argue that if Being is globe shaped and finite, it must be bounded on the outside by empty space. Because without outer empty space, Being cannot retain globe shape or finiteness. But, Parmenides negate the existence of empty space. Then, critics argue that it cannot be true that Being is globe shaped or finite, on the contrary, it must extend illimitably through out space. These Two Criticisms are the major ones on the Philosophy of Parmenides.

Becoming ka matlab hai k koi chez hai bhi aur nahi bhi. Is lye becoming ko ( being + not being ) kaha ja sakta hai.
