Looked like you were on a school of cookie cutter schoolies. Pair of hatchery fish and a few straggler wild fish. Good job. I think I'd of tried seal rock for potential larger fish, and by the look of confused sea, just inside past north tower Marin side Water was movin' when you made" potato patch" attempt at bottom fish. I believe that's the first time I've seen that attempted. Big fish movin' up river with the high pressure conditions. L/ Martha got 3 for 12 . You did good!

About the green camera light helping you catch fish... it absolutely works !! We use glowsticks in the sac River attached to kwik fish its amazing hugr difference. Also thats why light up lures are illegal in some areas , even in bass tournaments

Chris, I have a 17' tracker deep V that I want to take out in the bay. Never done it before, hoping you would join me so I can have someone experienced in the boat. Whatcha say?
@theoldsurffisher19434 жыл бұрын
Pfish you are definitely a top Gate salmon fisher. You catch what's AVAILABLE to catch even if smallish. I really like how your boat always looks ...like an OP room super tidy clean...no blood, guts, or gurry. Those small kings "jacks" early, spawners indicate a very troubled fishery in ALASKA. Lack of food (competition) , warm waters, early maturity? Is that becoming an ecological problem/question here too?
@fishhunt98744 жыл бұрын
Nice day of catching! Nice boat as well. I bet Fisherman’s Life watched this video and just shook his head. I have never launched from the area up there as I normally fish out of Santa Cruz. What launch ramp do you use? Is the area safe as far as vehicle security? I am headed up North to pick my North River next week, I can not wait. I missed salmon season with this new boat this year but next year, watch out!

Do you think these fish are smaller because they are to young to spawn ? And because the larger fish have headed up to the river ?

Aloha, probably jacks/feeders, following bait, not ready to spawn.

I am telling ya Chris salmon bites are still good outside why go for poorer quality fish in the river and lower productivity? My PB salmon was a 49” - 40# salmon caught 7 years ago on the watermelon apex at Dux on Halloween day. Before when they use to let you fish till end of November that was when I know the big ones start going up river. Btw still can’t get enough of your salmon vids so keep them coming! 👍

Hey Chris, awesome video again. I’ve got a gift voucher for a charter out of emeryville. Do you think it’d still be good idea going out for salmon, I know I’ve kinda left it late, or leave it and go for Rock fish where we all know it’ll be easy limits. I’m really wanting salmon. What you think?
