Thanks to Uncle Google, the flag is the Jack of the United States, a maritime flag representing US Nationality , flown on the jackstaff in the bow of US vessels that are moored or anchored. Once the ship is under way, the jack is stowed away for future use. Great video guys! 🤘❤️🤘

So glad you got an opportunity to experience this I'm from Memphis Tennessee and we have the Memphis Queen on the Mississippi River and it is really cool to experience an old-fashioned Jazz Cruise on a steamboat or paddle boat there's nothing like it I also experienced this myself in New Orleans years ago with my family and I went there for vacation

Cruise before a cruise is the way to go! That steamboat looked like so much fun. We saw it when we were there in 2017 but never boarded it. Thanks for sharing!

We love a good cruise before a cruise! We were torn between the Steamboat Natchez and the Creole Queen, but we ended up picking the authentic steam paddle wheeler... woohoo!! :D

The nighttime views were awesome and the food looked delicious. The hotel room looked very spacious. Thanks for the tour. Have a great weekend!

Did they actually run the paddlewheel to propel the boat? That looked like a very nice dinner steamboat ride. Way to take a cruise before your cruise! Oh, and that room tour at the end, after I thought y'all were done with the vlog - extra special! I love surprises!! What hotel did you stay at? That room looked amazing!
@parodeejay5 жыл бұрын
Yep, it's the only steam-powered paddle wheeler around, so they say. We had a ball!! :D We ended up staying at a hotel Carl chose, the Homewood Suites in Metairie, which was awesome. About halfway between the airport and downtown.

We did this too on our visit to NOLA we did the lunch time cruise and the weather was great! Did they sound the steam horns playing their little song?
@parodeejay5 жыл бұрын
Yes, the calliope! They played it as we were boarding, but that was the only time we heard it, hah... super fun!! :D

Hello. I love your videos. I was wondering for the main course did you order the food from a server or was there a buffet?
@parodeejay5 жыл бұрын
Thanks so much! It was a buffet service. I showed it to some degree in the video, but they had 5 or 6 selections on the main center buffet, plus a carving station and a gumbo station on the side, and then two desserts! You could visit the buffet as many times as you wanted, and we definitely didn't leave hungry, ha ha... :P

How much was the dinner cruise? It looked amazing.
@parodeejay5 жыл бұрын
They have a ton of different options at various times of the day. The evening cruise is $85/pp with dinner, or $49/pp without dinner if you just want to float along and do the sightseeing. They also have some daytime cruise options, which is cool. We definitely enjoyed ourselves!! :D

Jay, Did you ever find out what happened to the red and white stripes on that flag?
@parodeejay5 жыл бұрын
Yes indeed! Someone linked us an article about the "Jack of the United States" being a proper maritime flag flown on the front staff of a vessel. Always learning!! :D en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jack_of_the_United_States

Could you please provide more information about price for the activities you are doing in the future videos?
@parodeejay4 жыл бұрын
We sometimes get into pricing along our adventures, but not too often since that's something that could change drastically over time. For instance, it's been almost two years since we did this adventure on the Steamboat Natchez. We try to provide links to the company's website in the video description so folks can get the most up-to-date information when doing their own planning!! :P
