Parrot Anafi Review | The Mavic Killer

I've spent 5 months with this drone now and love it. I firmly believe it is the best drone at its price and gives DJI a run for its money. At $599 or $550 on sale, it just offers so much for a solid experience.

Nice review. I have Spark, Mavic Air and Anafi. I first prefered Mavic but Parrot has really improved a lot the software. Now I use only Anafi : silent, flying time is better, the zoom is cool and image quality excellent.

And yet it has done poorly on the market. I don't know why other than better marketing by DJI and the fact that all major influences online use them. It's such a shame. Parrot made a wonderful drone that is just underrated. I hope they don't give up.

@@LaplanetArts You have any numbers? DJI marketing is strong. I have an Anafi too and wouldn`t trade for any other, atlthough the Air 2 looks really really good. Anafi is still max stealth (put up camouflage decals and removed the blue light) with zoom.

The air 2 is probably my next Drone because of its new incredible features I must admit. The anafi is 3 years old now and I haven't heard any news for another Drone yet from parrot :(

Not to nitpick , but quality is not just a perception and you may have overlooked or were unaware of the Autel Evo, which is a fantastic drone. Also , the timeline of the Anafi is that it came out after the DJI Mavic Pro, not the other way around. The Anafi is great value for the money , not the worst drone , but certainly not the best (if measured by performance and features).

This review wasn't about which drone is the best of all time. However with price in mind and the features it offers at it's price it just makes sense. It cost as much as a spark but has features of drones twice it's price. Range isn't as good as mavic, but it's props cannot get in the way like mavic either. Having a full tilt camera is fantastic. Sure the EVO is great but again it's twice the price. If that isn't a factor that matters to you then go right ahead

You talk about the issue with the Camera ! I’ve had issues with condensation and drone camera lenses on colder days. Was that a possibility ? When you take a drone from a centrally heated or air conditioned environment outdoors it will often cause the lens to fog.

I did! Haha it was a good idea. I like the idea of it being like some dark secret. You should also do a dramatic video of one of them escaping and you hunting it down. Like you could turn it into a splinter series where he even assumes a new identity called flint and is always looking over his shoulder.

Thumb Zupped and Sub;d Dude.I'm still hovering between Zoom 2,Mini 2 and Parrot Anafi.Your review was very helpfull and comprehensive.Silent is a big plus,i used to fly the Phantom 2 V+ and it was like an aerial chainsaw.Like the 180 deg gimbal option and the price point is attractive.Customer service is also important so that may also be a deal breaker.The jury is still out at the moment but plenty to work with.Now,the only thing that's getting me down is.....GRAVITY !

I'veseen guys get 2.2 miles. Was a little glitchy for a small period but once they past all the houses connection was good and then was lost at 2.2 miles

Great review. Though I’m shocked you had such a great experience with their customer service. It took me 5 months to get my replacement Anafi. Now I have a new Anafi and am debating whether I keep it or sell it and go DJI. I don’t want to deal with Parrot’s terrible service if it crashes again.

Price is back up to $699. Was going to pick one last year when they were even cheaper. Missed the boat on that one. Have had a few Phantoms, and the Blade 350 QX3. Trying to decide between the Anafi or Mavic Air. Really leaning towards the Anafi.

Parrot is a French company, and the French way of doing things doesn’t always make sense to Anglo/Americans 😂 But saying that, I do think Parrot make first class products and I own a number of their drones and I’m very happy with their performance.

I kind of overlooked this UAV when it was released. I waited and waited for the Typhoon H plus to be released, BUT the price just doesn't seem to fit the Vehicle. I'm going to have to give this little thing a test run. Can the shutter speed be locked so that shutter and frame rate can be matched? Haha yeah it was chilly up there. Yes thanks for asking I wish I mentioned that yes you can lock shutter speed, ISO and aperture. It has full manual controls. I'm so impressed by it really with all the features it has that it's hard to cover everything.

I've heard from people that bought the typhoon that it's very fragile btw, the weight and cheap construction causes it to shatter if you crash it. Not just scuff or break a little.

It's looking more and more like the plan of an affordable/usable quad like the parrot paired with my own waterproof build are going to be the best options. I really appreciate the informaiton. Trying to read through all of the silly press releases, and recycled articles from tech sites is frustratingly difficult to do.

It is NOT a Mavic killer but it does eat the Spark's breakfast and steal its lunch money too. I started with the Spark and I have flown it a lot but now I have two Anafis and two Mavic Pros I simply don't have any reason to fly the Spark. If the opportunity calls for a small drone that doesn't look too intimidating the Anafi is great and it can fly further than the Spark, and faster and it has zoom and the ability to look up and it is quieter. If the mission calls for really long range then the Mavic is far better. Flight Plan is excellent, allowing you to plan missions that take the drone through areas where reception may be poor, the Anafi flies on following its orders. The combination of a Mavic Pro (not a Mavic Air, which is just a phat Spark) and an Anafi gives a lot of flexibility. The one serious downside for the Anafi is that it is really hard to fly in the dark as there is only one light and it flashes brightly destroying your night vision without giving you much of an idea of which way the drone is oriented. The Anafi is the perfect backpack drone as it is so light. Also, the batteries are a good size to keep in your pocket so they stay warm enough to fly in cold weather. The Mavic's batteries are harder to carry close to your body because they are so much bulkier. Yesterday I took both Anafi and Mavic to fly but I had left the Mavic controller at home. No problem, I have five Anafi batteries. It was a great session. Although I was flying from low lying ground I managed to take the Anafi out to over 2km (the distance indicator turned yellow, expressing modest concern on Parrot's part, but no censure). I also managed to capture video flying over a distant church, zooming in quite impressively. In all, I managed to do the flight that I had in mind for the Mavic with the Anafi. The Mavic is better for long flights, no question, but if you do most of your flying close by and in daylight (like a good boy scout) the Anafi is unbeatable for the price.

I own the DJI Spark w/RC, the Parrot Anafi and the DJI Mavic 2 Zoom. I think Spark and Anafi are in two separate drone categories. I view the Spark as being in the upper end, if not the very top, of the light aerial and selfie drone category based on cost/specs/limitations. I view the Parrot Anafi as being in the bottom end of the prosumer category - along with the DJI Mavic Air, again based on cost/specs/limitations. Both the Spark and Anafi are very capable and do what they're designed to do really well - as long as the proud owner doesn't expect more than she/he actually paid for. Both drones afford portability, great stabilized images/video and minimal setup to flight time for those hurry up before you lose the shot moments. I love both drones for what they do best. Yes, I am the middle child. Great informative video - thank you! I subscribed.

I wouldnt recommend dji to anybody. I had a mavic pro, and had nothing but problems with it. The software is clunky, the app is so full of advertisments and bugs, and i couldnt even calibrate the compass when i needed to. It has never flown perfectly straight since i bought it new and dji told me id have to pay them to fix the issue. Screw dji.

Mavic Killer?? Nah the 2 axis gimbal is terrible. That SD card tray reminds me of old phones SD slots and the tray is flimsy. No obstacle avoidance. 2 hours to charge a battery even with their recommended wall adapter. The motors are so exposed it would easily get damaged. The circuit board is exposed under the battery so it can easily get damaged. The only good thing about this drone compared to the Mavic Air is that has the fake HDR, the lossless Zoom and 4 more minutes than the Mavic air. PS it has both digital and Lossless zoom.
