Anafi is a fine drone I use it for building inspections. The 21 mp photos and the ability to shoot upwards makes it perfect for that task. Completely reliable, I have 122 hours of flight with no accidents...just be careful where you fly...it has no obstacle avoidance sensors.

Maybe it is because of your phone, if it doesn’t have a barometer the drone will only follow in one direction with no altitude changes. Or try to reinstall the app

Carel van Heugten DJI is the drone leader so pretty much anything that comes on the market gets compared to one of its products. I wouldn't say I'm a fan of DJI, rather more of a consumer of its products since there is so little competition. The Anafi has more good than bad so I do think it will sell very well. I like its simplicity and ease of use. It is certainly a drone I'll use often.

Besides hearing a bunch of people complain about this drone is hearing people saying that the follow me mode is really good. Because it is new it's going to need a few little tweaks and updates to fix a few things. Feature for feature it is kind of a step down to the Mavic pro and I am fully capable of using all the features on the Mavic but I am enjoying this drone. Sometimes you need to take a break from the complexity and enjoy a little bit of simplicity.

While in simple Follow Anafi can be clocked to any position or height in relation to the subject using the sticks, you are not stuck with one vantage point. Also Anafi uses GPS+Visual tracking for a more robust link to the subject. Lots of development work here hence maybe the reason for the in app purchase. Active Track and Follow Me are really different modes. DJI refers to Follow Me as GPS based Follow, and Active Track as optical recognition Follow. Unique thing about Anafi(and Bebop 2) is they combine GPS and visual tracking into the same mode.

I have a question: I use the Anafi with an Android phone that is only used for that purpose, leaving my iPhone for what it was made for. I do, however, have the Freeflight app on both phones just in case I need to use the iPhone instead. If I buy the 'follow me' option is that a purchase that is for the phone or the aircraft? In other words, would I need to buy it twice, once for Android and once for iPhone?

Is there a setting for exposure lock? I noticed you can change the shutter speed and EV, but I didn’t notice an exposure setting.

It has the auto setting and then your cloudy, sunny, fluorescent, incandescent, and a think a couple more. I’ve been able to hold color by choosing my shutter speed and I tend to lean towards darker as it’s easier to pump up light in post if needed. I did one long sunset shot around a dead tree in full auto at 1080 30 frames and went from shadows to light to blue sky up back to look down at brown forrest floor. Plus Swallows were loosing it over the invader and about 50 birds were circling me once I got above the subject tree. The color shifts are of course apparent when viewed as a continuous shot. Once the camera settled on its focal point, it was surprisingly balanced for each look I was going for. My photographer wife is even impressed and she is now encouraging me to use it on this trip. Now that’s a bonus I never anticipated and she even asked “why do you own all those other ones now”.

Craig Schumacher Thank you for that explanation. Ok that is a good way to get around that. I tried originally to work with different white balance settings. I’ll definitely experiment with the shutter settings and the wb a little bit . Think also when some lens filters come out for the anafi, It will be easier to achieve better results in the bright sunlight and from going from a brighter to a darker area. Thank you again!

Brian Thomas that will for sure be helpful. I’m always using ND filters. I’m surprised by how high up I can set the shutter speed though without the filters. So far I have not set motion blur but I’ve also not been doing quick moves. A hood would be awesome and a neck strap for the clunky remote.

Nope. The Eachine Googles are for FPV drones, the ANAFI is a camera drone. FPV drones are drones that use the RACEBAND, FATSHARK, etc. video signal bands. Camera Drones use an encrypted WiFi version which only the manufacturer can de-code.

I just got my Parrot. I haven't got a chance to fully fly it yet, what worries me is some videos showing the Parrot continue to do what it's doing when the signal is lost, kind of kills the idea that I wanted to use this to fly indoors with lots of obstacles (Which btw the Mavic can do just fine, I don't use the prox sensors). Also, it starts to drift like the early Phantoms used to do, which annoys the crap out of me. Hopefully they fix this with a firmware upgrade REALLY SOON. I do like the adjustment features like turn speed, pitch speed, etc. Meanwhile, my Mavic Pro is extremely stable, even indoors. If I lose signal, it just sits there where it was without moving, even without GPS. The Parrot... I don't trust it as much yet. I'm going have to crash it a few times to find out its limitations. I also don't understand why Parrot is charging such prices for features available for free on the DJI or very cheap with Litchi. But whatever, I can live with it if they fix some issues people are having.

I have 1/2/3 questions though -- it seems that the Anafai can follow a combination of GPS + visual tracking + barometric pressure of phone - so it can follow heigh changes and it can follow across trees. I'm not sure, but is the litchi leash equal to the Cameramen mode coming with Freeflight 6 (without the follow me package)? Btw. this works with DJI too, once you have the tracking object selected, the App keeps it centered in the view. As long as you don't press start, it's just tracking, once you press start it follows and tries to keep position relative to the tracked object.

Very nice. I’ve yet to try any of those features. With the zoom, you could start in what appears very close follow. Then add that cinematic look with a gentle pull back to1x. One of my best shots was when I took a TH480 down low in a follow shot facing the subject car chasing my front car. It was for a hip hop video and unfortunately, my spotter was not paying attention (provided by band) and I drove the camera into the ground. I got their Real Sense version later to prevent that from ever happening again. But it won’t go that low so for that reason, the Anafi, in my opinion, is better then my main rigs from Yuneec and it’s for sure a valuable addition to my video tools. On this current trip, I’ve been able to fly the Anafi everywhere we saw something of interest without being conspicuous. So far, I’ve only put the 480 up once. They are creating a “plug in” model for getting more features that most of the digital world has accepted - like Adobe and Avid -and they’ll offer feature bundles I’m guessing. Maybe they will even allow third party development and things like auto zoom or maintain heading orientation will be available. The future is bright for good shots that aren’t your typical boring fly over and lift shots everyone’s using.

Craig Schumacher the bebop 2 has a Linux running board inside, I guess Anafi has a similar board. I have made a number of tweaks inside myself. I don't know anything about dji boards and what they run inside, but Parrot's hardware is not that "closed" if I might say, so there is a lot of ground for developers to run upon.

Both. It apparently tracks GPS + subject (visual) + (drums please) the barometric pressure height of the phone. There is a very cool video here on YT, where the Anafi climbs with constant 2-3 meters above ground and "follows" a jeep (from the front)

Great job Captain! Seems to get a very good lock on the subject, although you DID have the controller with you throughout the test. According to a few of the reply's below, it uses a combination of visual, gps, and barometric sensors to use the follow function. It seems to work very well indeed! Would be very interesting if you did another test vid without the controller in hand, to see how effective the follow mode works using only the visual sensor. You could bring a friend to lock on to, while you keep the controller in hand in case of a problem. Done it many times with my P3P using the Litchi app. Again, great job of showing the follow mode of this very cool Parrot offering! Suscribed

I agree, for a "cinematic" drone it should be able to do these things without someone holding the controller. It seems it can only orient toward a subject that does not have the remote. With good optical tracking this seems like a major feature that should be added to compete with mavic's easy optical based subject orienting AND following.

First, if you are using an Android Phone, you need to purchase the FOLLOW ME (it is an Add On App). Then, you select it. It will check your phone so that it can use your phone GPS to help. Then you have plenty of Follow Me options.

That follow me mode looks like it's better than DJI most people don't even use follow me on DJI drones.. they use active track...

muzikmon2267 I guess I should have been more clear in my video. When I referred to DJI, I meant Active Track. Follow Me for DJI is a simple way of saying the drone follows the GPS signal from your phone only.

CAPTAIN DRONE Oh ya got it ;) But the follow me mode on DJI kind of works like the anafi where it doesn't turn like activetrack.. So I'm assuming the anafi does not do the active track type of following where the Drone turns in a circle left and right to follow you, the yaw

The Anafi tends to follow you no matter where you turn, and no matter in which direction the Anafi is flying (up, down, around you), as long as it can see you (for the most part). It does seem like it does also make use of the GPS in your phone on occasion for when it can't see you well when you are moving.

That's usually how follow me works on DJI... I think what you're referring to is active track when it follows you a different way.. On active track it will Spin and turn to follow you.. follow me mode on DJI does not do that.. ;)

Since it follows you AND your GPS you could literally get into a car and start driving and it theoretically would still track you, even if there are trees in-between or your driving through a tunnel
