Steve, thanks for going back over you request archive and pulling out the most frequently requested distro to look at this week. It shows how much you think about us, the viewers. Thanks also for going slightly outside of your comfort zone and reviewing what you are knowledgeable about in Parrot OS. It is exactly what you said, "A Swiss Army knife of security and privacy tools." And it pretty to boot. As always, stay well and keep on doing what you're doing. I for one am loving it. Cheers!!

I would have thought you’d really enjoy parrot just based on the theming and desktop environment. OTB always throwing curve balls. I really enjoyed the live stream by the way, it was cool talking to some of the other people in your community and getting your input. Keep it up OTB 🤙🏽

Great review. I'm probably missing something, but: why trying to change the way you pronounce "mate" if you got it right? (Being as i am, natural of the southern country i am, as of this moment drinking said infusion). Great channel too.

My son-in-law has a job as a penetration expert. All he does all day it try figure out how to get into system and find the flawy in the security systems and firewalls... Two thirds of it go's over my head but he loves to talk about it as we are both Linux Geeks... HaHaha, he was working from home when this Virus crud started so nothing changed... Lol Great looking OS. Security people likes Pretty too... LOL Thanks for the video! LLAP

Hi there OTB, I'm very happy to view your upload on Parrot OS. Indeed, I thought that you would certainly find the desktop quite striking, as I did. However, even though I'm a KDE Plasma fan, I really like seeing "MATE" desktop on Parrot OS. I've decided to use "MATE" desktop on my secondary hard drive. My main primary hard drive runs FerenOS. When viewing your video on the part of security tools, I was wondering, do the user have the ability to uninstall the security tools you don't need or use? Feb 4/21.

Nifty tricks I learned about brain training is DON'T tell your brain something is difficult or very difficult. DO tell your brain something like, "This is so easy its funny" Also don't say don't forget this or that because your instantly visualizing forgetting the very thing you want to remember! Talk or think to your brain in the positive or affirmative sense. "I will remember this or that". This is what I will remember. Etc... Please let me know if this helps.

I have always found this distribution interesting. To be honest, I feel like it's a Debian alternative to black arch rather than a competitor to Kali.

Hi Just had a spin on Kali , another great debian based, serving same purose as Parrot... just plasma ( don't hate me too much :D) , great video +1 from me. What do you think about Sabayon? Have you ever test it? I know you love gentoo but a gentoo made for humans, would you like it? Just out of curiosity, in 2020 how much would influence a special dedicated distro that needs a quad core/8gigs of ram/50 gigs of ssd, vs a low consuming distro, in choosing it or not? How many linux desktops still exists with less then a quad core/8gigs of ram/50gigs of storage that will need a modern security analistic, dedicated distro? It happens to me very often : "I have a old laptop , and I like to use it for gaming ,wich distro you would suggest" ? ( I prefer not to answer to that...) Why we should consider linux machines as low end machines? And you... if mate needs 500 megs of ram is a medium hungry mate... If my plasma runs as I tell it to , and need 1 gig, so what? What is the point measuring resurces needed by a linux system if it runs as you decide, and as you set it? PS; Here is a suggest for the next live ramble try a terminal emulator talk , eDEX-UI vs Alacritty vs Yakuake (Guake) vs TermKit, or go for TTY :D

Thanks for the suggestion. As for sabayon, I try to avoid source based distros as I don’t have the patience.

Had to chuckle on the Mate / Mah-tay conflict. I tried being "correct" and saying Mah-tay, but frankly I'm too old a horse to pull that cart. It's Mate. Always has been in my book, always will be. As to a subject for the next live stream, how about TWM's, what you look for in one, what you like or don't like about them, what would be your "ultimate" WM and what would make it so, etc. I think there would be quite a bit of feedback from the stream, ideas and questions. Something to ponder on.

I have tried to install Parrot OS on two different laptops and on a USB drive. It didn’t work on any of the devices. I’m no linux newbie. I’ve been using linux for over 20 years. I don’t know what I may have done wrong. I had my son try to install it as well. He was also unsuccessful. So I’m suspicious about this distro.

I got it perfectly running in my third try. It’s the only distro I have installed in my laptop and it’s perfect for daily use, besides cyber security studies. All you need is to make the bootable USB (use Rufus if you’re making it in a Windows computer, Etger if you’re making it in a Linux environment), and install it using the calamares installer that comes in the live session. The first issue I had was my grub was all messed up. Repaired grub... but when I rebooted, I got a postgreSQL error... had to fix that too. After these two issues were fixed, I didn’t have any other issues. Absolutely love Parrot. Best distro ever!!

I guess I am a tinfoil hat wearing sort, I have Parrot OS downloaded on a 1TB external hard drive. I love it but there is a learning curve even if you are a Debian based distro user, regardless I love it.

Ha! Since you're already accustomed to pronouncing "maté" correctly (i.e., the same as the South American beverage of the same name), might as well stick with that pronunciation, mate! 😂 Anyway, as always, it's a pleasure listening to your videos. And no, I don't really care how you say it, just found it amusing that you're struggling to retrain yourself to say it "incorrectly" on purpose. Haha!

I say this just you to know, of course you can say it as you want, but it's not pronounce "maate", the first part of MATE is like saying "math" whithout extending the "a" sound. The last part is well pronounced. Great job, keep on ramble.
