My biggest problem with trains is decision fatigue. Deciding how to build them and not have it look like I have a flying city.

to see the colors of the blocks do you need a mod for that or is that in the game by default, if so i haven't ever seen it when building with rails

Its in the game by default. On the experimental servers its currently bugged and not showing., but on the early access servers its there and working fine. No mods needed.
