True. Thing I noticed about Bruce's best friends they were humble types and calm. Like tacky kimura and inosanto. Maybe to bring calmness and balance him out as he was so energetic and maybe not calm at times with his temper

@CBHDK595 жыл бұрын
no, is the other way around. dan inosanto saw something different in brace lee. and since Dan was a student of Bruce and a Filipino weapon practitioner, Bruce thought he was useful to his film. after all, Dan inosanto is one responsible for Bruce's thoughts and ideas. see how that works.

May I just say that Mr. Inosanto is possibly the most under-appreciated Martial Artist in the world today? The guy is truly a walking encyclopedia of Asian martial arts. He has studied virtually every major style present today, and mastered most of them. His movement is fluid and flawless and his knowledge is second to none. Anyone who gets to learn from him must feel very lucky. We are all lucky to have these videos to learn from.

Many MMA trainers and traditional instructors alike now use the training equipment that were originally used by Bruce Lee and Dan Inosanto. Alot of the equipment has been upgraded since then to the versions that are in use today.

Amazing insight on how they trained and how long. 2 to 3 hours per sessions. Main attributes were important and 60% physical vs 40% technical. Meaning, if you don't train the physical body to a high enough athletic ability, the technique will not work. No substitution on how many hours you need to progress when it comes to both the technique and making a body athletic enough to use the technique. Good to remember.

Starting to put it all together now. Dan is right, in my research I read some his Seattle 'buddies' opened a different group and tried poaching some of his students. He confronted them and that was it. In Oakland his main contact there was distraught over his wife dying and didn't fare so well himself. I could TOTALLY see his reluctance and THIS man's (Dan) loyalty won Bruce over. I think Bruce REALLY valued the loyalty of his male friends / students and had HUGE issues w abandonment linking back to Amy Sanbo. The more and more I research and study sources and link it all together the more I appreciate Bruce as a young man finding his way.

Nice interview (is it from one of the Hong Kong Legends dvds?). Mr. Inosanto is one of my favorite martial arts teachers, a great example for others to follow: incredibly knowledgeable but always a student himself, still learning & training in his 70s. Thanks for your fine example, Mr. Inosanto.

Ed Parker asked Bruce Lee if he could improve his Hawaiian Chinese Kenpo shortly after he met Bruce. Now notice that Ed Parker was the authority in the martial art arena at the time. Ed was thrilled after Bruce was able to help him improve some of his vital moves. (example: After you strike don't just bring your hand back, grape your opponent's neck with the same hand and pull him toward your elbow in a head-on collision strike.) Ed Parker was also Elvis Presley's bodyguard and sifu.

Interesting to hear Sifu Dan mentioning learning the Southern Mantis Form (Tong Long) from Sifu Bruce Lee. I have always believe there are similarities in the JKD stance to the Tong Long stance. I studied the Southern Mantis art and found myself adapting to the JKD stance easily. There are some differences, the on guard position is slightly different. But the art is based on centre line, very similar to Wing Chun/JKD

bruce was a master. master of the martial arts. Not necessarily of any particular syle. He was a great thinker and invented much on his own. He took the essence of things and progressed it. I know people with master mechanic titles. I know those that have never taken a class that are better mechanics..

Danny and Bruce are not martial artists. They are Practitioners. What martial arts do him or Bruce know? Kuntao is the mother of karate and the only martial arts in the world that descends directly from the Shaolin temple in Henan province. Bruce Lee was a phony martial artists. Anyone who believes he could fight like he did in the movies is plain stupid. If he was all that then how could he complain about what he knew if it was not sufficient? Besides that, there are no southern mantis forms. mantis is northern. The closest you can get to a southern mantis form is in My Jong Longhorn. These people are phony martial artists and could not stand up against true martial artists 5 minutes. Bruce was purely demonstrational. And how can people say JKD is martial arts when Bruce said it was not? He said it had no forms which means you cannot learn it due to the fact (another thing Bruce was ignorant of) it is the forms in southern kuntao that builds chi and makes it martial arts. He said it was just a name. Why did he say that? Becuz JKD is the art of fighting without fighting which means if someone challenges you, then get them to get into a boat to go somewhere you do not intend to go with them. I figured it out Bruce was a child star in Hong Kong. h came to Hollywood and the bug started all over against, and ended his life. All these people are self proclaimed masters of nothing. WHo made Beruce a master? Whta system did he master?

@leejou2 Because what Sijo Bruce would have wanted above all else would be for his students and the students of his students to run around criticising each other about how wrong they are, regardless of how much time they have spent training with him/people he certified to teach his art. Yes, what else could a teacher ask for but that all of his followers spend as much time as possible at each others throats, instead of perfecting themselves!

Well, he did really bring a lot to the USA, and all the stuff he did for physical fitness and the martial arts have yielded a ton of fruit. I might have a huge ego too if it was the 60's/70's and I was the first to introduce the things he did to a country that was fairly ignorant of what he knew. I'm saying that any delusions of grandeur you may have read about aren't unfounded. He was the real deal at the time. I wouldn't have my teacher without Bruce's inspiration.

How could this be, bruce spent only 40% of the training time developing the technique. If you look at his reps, he did up to 2000 punches and kicks a day.

was this about his comment on Bruce being impatient? What? Does Bruce walk on water too? Nobody is above reproach and nobody is above criticism. Everyone, no matter who it is....has something about themselves that can be criticized. Bruce Lee wasn't perfect, he's human like the rest of us. I don't think Inosanto was "jealous" of Bruce, he was just merely pointing out a flaw that Bruce had as a teacher. let's put it this way, would you rather train from a teacher who is too impatient with you to grow and he just moves on to the next subject? or would you rather have a teacher who Is willing to work with you at your own pace? Bruce Lee was one of the baddest motherfuckers alive......but I'd rather have Dan Inosanto teach me than Bruce. Dan is not the only person who said that about Bruce, there have been others that Bruce taught who've more or less said the same thing. That Bruce's temperment wasn't conducive to being a good teacher.
