Part #1: G35 G37 Front Driver Power Seat Motor Replacement Diagnosis

I have an ‘08 G35 with a passenger seat stuck all the way forward. (The motor won’t engage at all for the forward and back seat functions but all other movements still work fine.) Shop just called and told me that the power seat motor is bad, but I can’t buy just the motor. They say I have to buy the whole seat at a cost of $6,100. I obviously just went and picked up my car and told them not to worry about it. Any advice?

Try the switch. Can you find a used one to put in? I’ve had the switch go bad on these as well. Even if the other functions work the contacts for the forward and reverse get worn out

Yes i think passenger side airbag connector comes loose sometimes

What about the seat tilt? Any ideas on how I go about fixing this? The seat will tilt back but not forward. Now its stuck in a recline position😡

You mean the reclining seat back or the seat bottom? This chair can tilt both

I have the same issue, do you need to replace the whole seat? Or can you just replace the motor that tilts the seat up and down?

If your frame is broken. Need to replace your full seat but you can try welding it

So that would be the reason why that screw pushes on the other motor like that? I did not notice it and replaced the motor with a new one just to snap it the same way fk me. Anyway. All the other functions work on that seat just cant slide it back/forth I gave up and left it like that for today Just unplugged the broken motor so the seat doesnt get stuck in an awkward position in case someone moves it

My power seat functions stopped working on the drivers seat. The only function that works is the lumbar support. I don’t hear any noise when I press the buttons to move the seat. Also my heated seat feature doesn’t work on the drivers side either. The button illuminates but the heat doesn’t work. Any idea what I should try doing?

@@lgsav8992 I did not fix it. I can't access the bolts with the tools I have to remove the seat because the seat is blocking them.

I have a similar problem, i bought the passenger seat frm a parts g35 it workd perfectly fine in the wrecked car, i replace it into my car and it doesn’t move back or forward why could this be?

You wouldn't happen to have the part number for that motor? I can't seem to find a motor anywhere

I tried looking but can’t find a part number. I don’t have the part anymore so I had to use photos. What is wrong with your seat?

@@DebtFreeCars seat just does not move forward or backwards and back part of lift does not move up or down .. only thing that works is recliner and front part of lift

Bunrong Rey check the switch. That sounds like the switch is broken. The slider switch is on the same switch as the rear up/down. Try that first. Switch is easy to remove. Pop the outside levers off. Then lift the leather up and unscrew the switch. There is a small wire plug behind it.

My 07 g35x sedan doesn’t move forward or backwards or up and down the only thing that moves is the adjuster things inside the seat, do you think this is a switch or motor issue?

If you can hear the motors moving then not the switch. Most likely the plastic gears and attached to the motor and track.

@@ctoeasy6960 yes, the switch. And there are connectors and wires under the chair too. Check those. But switch first

@@DebtFreeCars yea I checked the wires for power and they work and heated seats work as well so it’s gotta be the switch now I gotta know where to buy them and how much they will run me

You have to pull it off a used seat.

My q50 driver seat moves every position except for forward is it a motor issue?

If it only moves backwards but not forwards then I’d say it’s the switch issue. If it doesn’t move both directions then I’d say it’s a connection to the motor that is broken. The motor itself is unlikely to burn out.

Is there such shops that repairs electric seat not want working?

None that I know. Dealers will only replace the entire seat. Auto upholstery shops only work with the leather and cushion. They might be the best best. However, it can be easily $300 for any small repair.

Any noise at all? I’d start with the switch. It’s a simple short of the switch. You can use a power probe.

@@DebtFreeCars i found the same problem, the black piece broke, how do I remove the motor? The same piece youre holding

@@danpham9094 you need to pull out the chair and turn it over. Motor easy to remove but you pretty much have to buy a used chair to repair. Can’t find the parts. Also check the seat frame, fix that first
