I've just started using pan pastels directly on the drafting film and I love it. You can put a million layers of pan pastels on it. Totally has sped up my colored pencil drawings.

It’s amazing how much pan pastels can speed up the process, especially because coloured pencils are such a slow medium! xxx

J'adore votre travail et suis admirative !!! J'ai une question concernant les pan pastel .Je n'en ai pas et j'aimerai savoir comment faire la base sans les utiliser. Faut il faire une couche avec du crayon et dans ce cas , n'y t-il pas un risque que le film sature trop vite ? Je n'ai pas encore utilisé de draffting film, mais en voyant votre tutoriel, j'ai très envie de me lancer . J'ai du papier DuraLar double mat, est ce que je peux l'utiliser ? Le film graffix n'est pas en vente en France hélas !!! Merci beaucoup et continuez à nous épater avec votre travail !!!!

I’ve never used drafting film, so for the finished portrait, the paper and the drafting film serve as the substrate, correct? How do you attach the two layers securely for framing, etc?

Always have the paper behind slightly bigger than the drafting film on top, so you can tape the drafting film to the paper behind. Or if they’re the same size, I tape the very edges together and only have a tiny bit of tape showing at the front so it can’t be seen at all when mounted 🤗

Oh that's interesting! I have been experimenting with pastels recently and was a bit sad not to be using drafting film... but it seems like panpastels do actually hold onto drafting film, which is really exciting.

I actually apply the pan pastels to Fabriano Artistico paper and then add the drafting film over the top. This means my base layers can be seen through the drafting film and I get go straight in with coloured pencils 🤩 amazing how so many artists have their own tricks and ways of doing things! Love pan pastels though they speed up the process so much 🤩

@@beccabarronart ...this is why I should actually *listen* to youtube tutorials and not just watch them on silent - I just realized you were doing this when I watched the start of your second vid! That makes so much more sense than panpastel on drafting :) Putting it on Fabriano behind film is a clever idea indeed.
