Thanks for watching! After taking all the valve springs off.....I prefer the cheap threaded version as well. Much easier to control what your doing. When using the other....the keepers tend to fall off and the last thing you want is to loose them. Appreciate you commenting and thanks for following the channel.

On another note I wanted to ask you, is there a site or something where us DIY people can look up torque specs on newer vehicles? I've been beating on my 16' 300 for a while now and I think one of my engine mounts or the trans mount is going out. It's bugging the crap out of me lol but I can't find torque specs for 2011 and up 300 mounts. Thanks David for all you do man!

Hello Dave, Referring to 17:15 to 17:50 : Would the tool work by using the big handle as course adjustment, and when squeezing it would just meet the valve and NOT squeeze spring? Then go to the screw side and tighten the tool by using the screw side as fine adjustment. This would allow the tool to compress more slowly and in a controlled way.

My inlaws PT cruiser just broke a timing belt. I enjoyed your videos, but only heard a brief mention of bent valves. From what I read, this is a non-interference engine. Do the valves still get bent? Your part 2 showed a cleaning process, I presume for those who will just clean and re-use. How would I tell if the valve is bent? Hopefully you're monitoring this, as they need this car quickly for medical appointments, and they're on a very limited fixed income and want to get them back on the road again. I want to say, I *REALLY* enjoyed your videos! You're an excellent instructor!

Good stuff David. Fairly new to dyi but after replaced timing belt and cam seal to stop leak on friends 97 Camry, and it ran perfect, I was hooked. So pardon simple question but how do you tell which are intake and which are exhaust valves?

roger lucas great question. Intake will always be larger and they will be in the side of the head where the intake bolts to it. Exhaust are smaller. Thanks for asking and make sure to subscribe

I have seen that but never tried it. It seems to work best when you have air in the cylinder with the head on.....then you can change out the valve spring. Thanks for the comment and for watching.

One thing that I thought about. I understand that the intake valves should not be damaged in this case and how you verified the exhaust valves were bad, but is there any possibility that the intake could be bad without a particular test to verify them? I'm guessing the next video will show the valves being lapped and seated properly, but is there a way to be absolutely sure the intakes are not vent or damaged too?

I have had great luck with it. I hated the other way....to often the item link would not be good because the seller was gone or things changed. Overall good video, but a green pad with some wd-40 is not going to cut cleaning up a head surface. Also if you have an issue where you think its possible to have a cracked head due to overheat or blown head gasket I would send it to the machine shop after checking it for flat for cracks.

All the service info give soooo many warnings about cleaning. They basically only want you to use spit and a napkin lol. Personally I use a Roloc pads and your not suppose to be after 20 years I know how much pressure and to keep the tool moving and making circular patterns. But showing people that to someone who never has used one or not much experience at it can cause issues and damage the head. So I show the most basic way to clean and if the head gasket is MLS the it’s easy to clean verses a composite gasket which we both know will require an AirPowered or cordless tool to get clean for sure. @@MotorCityMechanic Thanks for a reply comment. Right away when you showed the head I knew you used a Roloc pad. I don't see any issue with those, just haven't had much luck with them. I do what you highly DONT recommend. A carbon scraper on an aluminum head. Do it wrong and your plowing snow with aluminum particles. Do it right and your done in 2 minutes with an immaculate surface. The cast block will take the beating of the carbon scraper by a novice. As far as teaching a novice on this, A plastic razor blade and some brake cleaner might be a good approach followed by the green pad. They would prob be there all day, but it would be very forgiving.

Very true.....newbies need to learn the proper way and then they will find their groove once they get a feel for their tools. My fav roloc is the plastic type. Less aggressive. Chrysler actually had us using them back during the neon composite head gasket leaking years and eventually said not to use any but harsh words lol

They arent bent enough for that dramatic effect like some vehicles I have seen.....very slight, enough to cause a leak but hard enought to see.

Ahmed Alhosni why did you remove the intake? Just curious mainly to see if it was because you were using oil or if for another reason. I have seen some oil from time to time. It’s not abnormal unless like I mentioned before....if your using oil or smoking out the tailpipe. Usually there is an issue with too much oil in then I take I would recommend starting with the PCV valve which is due every 100k miles

Good Sir, quick question from one technician to another. I do not really work on Domestic brands, but have a customer with a ticking 3.6 in a PM van. My question concerns the following: What is the labor time to replace rockers on the PM? Surely it cannot pay the same as say the Jeep or Caravan? I've done the job on the aforementioned, but never on the PM. It looks like it requires front fascia removal? Please fill me in and if you could verify your PayPal address is still valid so I can send you something for your time. TY.

When you said PM.....that comes up as a Dodge Caliper. So I assume you mean Promaster. Yeah to get room to access the engine you will need to remove the front grille (front cover comes off in pieces/sections) and upper radiator support among a few other things. If doing all of them you are looking at 11.0 hrs from what I see with the pricing guide we subscribe to.

MotorCity Mechanic Much obliged. Yes this is indeed a Promaster Van. I apologize, I was not aware that PM would be a Chrysler chassis code. 🥴 As I stated I do not really service these vehicles. I work on European cars, but every so often one will trickle in. Customer drives a BMW, but her husband has a fleet of Promasters. They just expect me to fix it for them.🤷‍♂️ What can you do? So final question, the 11 hours does that mean cams and timing components off? Oh and is their any validity to accessing the rear bank through the floor pan inside the cabin? Thanks again. Did not know you did live chat. Anyway I had a long write up then the power went off. Not doing it again.....lol. For your DIY TIPM Problems. Looks up Vertical Visions.Com. They have a cheap fix for the really bad fuel pump relay problem on these on some models. They were a complete moron for not making a 5 dollar relay on top of the TIPM. Even after they new the problem they keep making the same dam mistake for years.

I do live videos from time to time. Actually overdue for another. I will keep that website in mind next time I have one fail. With the number of modules and components.....there is almost no room for all the needed relays and fuses these days. But at least a fuel pump relay would be nice that’s removable as you said.
