I am so thankful for your tutorials on things like this! My 7 yr old boy piggy had developed overgrown top and bottom teeth that needed to be trimmed. I was a bit afraid to do it myself, even having the correct tools (clippers and ronguers). The Vet wanted almost $600 to do it. So, I watched your teeth trimming video again, and did it myself. Success!!!

My piggy back molar were overgrown apperently and he passed away 💔🥺 I'm so mad and sad I wished there was a saskia near me cause I feel like my vets here aren't specialized in piggies. RIParadise patrick

Same. I wish I would have known about this back in 2020 when my piggy Butthead was still alive. I think his teeth may have been growing funny but back then I didn't know about this or to ask the vet this. I still miss him so. He was a licky pig and I've never had a licky pig since him.

@ITIsFunnyDamnIT Years ago we lost a piggie called Chomper after having his teeth trimmed under anesthetic. He woke up briefly then passed. It's hard losing piggies ❣️

@@amandaliverpool3374 I'm so sorry. Even if it wasn't recent. We Never forget the pain we feel from losing them. 💕🕊That is truly rough when you trust them in the care of a vet that doesn't know enough about them. I wish more vets would learn this. 🌻

I always had trouble getting to those molars in the back! I had a piggy that always had to have molar trims and had his other teeth removed because of dental issues. He was such a nutty sweetheart and would try to gum me when I would check him. I laughed when you picked up this adorable girlie at first - she had such a yummy stomach! I would be kissing that tummy all the time! So cute! Thank you Saskia!

Thank you for sharing and especially the tips on holding your piggies, my Harriet fights me when I check her teeth and definately will use! Clementime is a bet skittish and when she yawned I took the opportunity to take a peek, but will another soon. I have had her now a little over two weeks and she is three months. Thank you again Saskia!

Hi, Saskia! I'm in need of some answers😩. I have an Abussinian gp which my daughter received him (Axel) in 7/2019 which we were told that he was 4/6 months old. One day we noticed his top choppers had a little tooth in between so we took him to the vet for an office visit on the 23rd of May,2024 which costed us $97. The vet explained that the gp would need to be sedated to trim his top choppers which she showed me and that his top teeth were a little lose along with a skinny teeth in between his regular teeth and that I would have to scheduled a date to get the procedure done which I did which was recently on the 4th of June,2024. So, mind you that I was to drop Axel off at 9 am and I put a $200 down payment down too and paid later till I picked Axel up around 5 pm which I left the facility around 6 ish because the vet explained to me that he was trying to wake my gp up from his sedation which I tolerated but at the same time, my mind was thinking something was up but as he bring my gp to me which he looked drowsy in his tote, the vet explained to me that he may not eat anything as of yet but not to give him his 2 meds prescribed to him (Meloxicam(.5 mg) & Enrofloxacin(20mg)) and to give him in the morning but when he explained this to me, he gives me the rest of the cost which the head vet explained to me that it will cost me $400 but this vet stated that it would cost me $800 including my deposit. I stated to him that I was told $400 for procedure but the main vet didn't mentioned medication price so the vet stated that it would be all together including my deposit $624.24 so I paid it bcuz I was already discomfort looking at my gp and I would discuss the money issue with the head vet. So, morning arrived and I observed my gp to see his reactions when I make a known sound when I feed him and noticed he wasn't himself. He didn't eat nor drink like he should but I understood because I'm thinking that his top teeth have been operated on so I continue to observe him but when the 3rd day came, I called the vet office to inform them that my gp wasn't eating and I had to syringe feed him food and water. So the next day, I noticed he didn't have no bottoms. I was puzzled and upset bcuz that's not what was explained to me about his bottoms being trimmed whiched to me they looked removed. So, I set an appointment for a follow up for Axel which was on Tuesday, 11th of June,2024 and on that day, I explained to a vet on why my gp bottom teeth were removed but she stated that his teeth weren't removed. They just trimmed them down low(the teeth were not visible). The vet stated that Axel teeth were uneven and the reason why they had to do his bottoms because the top were crooked and the bottom didn't line up with the top so in order for them to grow straight, work had to be done. The vet showed my daughter and I some pictures from her phone on how Axel bottom teeth were still there but cut low and how the top looked as well. Mind you, my gp can not eat, he's not active and he looks depressed. So, the main vet comes in and explained to me how's Axel doing since his procedure and I explained that my guniea is not eating on his own and I have to syringe feed him. She asked about his droppings which I haven't seen since he had this procedure done nor eats on his own. So, she stated to me when I take him home not to syringe feed him but allow him to eat the hay and pellets within 24 hrs and if he doesn't touch his food within 24 hrs, bring him bk with no charge and that she will watch him overnight to see any progress. I called and informed them that Axel is not eating his hay, pellets and he's nibbling the fresh veggies and fruit. They said for me to bring him in on the 12th of June which I explained his actions and was told that they will keep him and will call me around the afternoon but when I left out the facility, she, the head vet stated to me that he might need blood work because he might hv kidney issues so I asked her before she do any blood work, please call me 1st. They called me around 9 pm on the 12th of June and I stated that they caught me off guard and I will call in morning to give them my answer. Now, Saskia, should I get the blood work done which will cost me $327.58? Take my gp home bcuz who can eat regular foods w/o your proper choppers? I know by Axel not having his proper hay feeding that this will cause stomach issues for a gp. I just want to bring my gp home and continue to syringe feed him his hay, pellets and fresh veggies and fruit untill his choppers grow whereas he can feed himself like he usually. I understand my gp is of age but why should my gp suffer (put to sleep) bcuz of someones actions? Please, help Saskia! I'm hurt. I'm upset. I'm don't want to used as a cash pot for ppls pockets. Am I wrong for what they done to my gp teeth? The head vet have been very helpful bcuz the overnight stay is a no charged for me but still, I'm not happy what took place to my animal's mouth. Please help me😩💔
