I have had guinea pigs for a while. I cannot even count how many times I have gone back to the care guide for help. It is such a valuable resource! As far as illness goes, I suggest looking through the illness section before you have an issue. You will then know exactly where to find your answers as quickly as possible, and as Scotty says, you will know what signs to look for. Also, no matter how long you have had piggies in your life, you will always learn something new on the website. Thank you Scotty.

Very nice. This is more like how your channel started. You have so much knowledge and education. Please try not to get caught up in all the negativity you do nor lost to the realization that “the best” care for piggies is not often affordable. Realist, compassionate advice for both owners and piggies is priceless. With food prices alone, it’s hard to feed human kids let alone feed Guinea pigs and provide unreasonably priced vet care in some states and areas. 💜
@ScottysAnimals Жыл бұрын
If you check out the diet playlist I have tried to show ways to make food affordable usually by buying in bulk you can save a lot of money. I have 20 guinea pigs at the house currently and I buy a bale of hay at a time and put it in bins. That cost me $40 and even with 20 guinea pigs it lasts over a month. That is 80% of their diet. Many people who say that guinea pig food is unaffordable are feeding and wasting too much pellets and feeding too much veggies. If you buy hay from the pet shop it is going to be a lot more expensive

i recently got two boys from a (neglectful) family member and they are both so terrified of me and i was able to clip their nails and i see that has a huge win but i feel at a loss sometimes because they are just so scared and only one of them is starting to warm up to me but the other acts like it's the end of the world the moment i open my bedroom door. I cant even say good morning to him without him shaking and i feel so horrible, i want to pick him up and i do once a day but it's so forced that it feels wrong. My mom also doesnt allow the fleeces, she says its disgusting to wash them in the washing machine. I use some basic paper litter (like for hamsters) instead.
@ScottysAnimals2 ай бұрын
I would recommend Aspen or kiln dried pine shavings and you need to make it a minimum of 3 in compressed down. Even still it will probably start to get stinky after 5 days. Some people have had success with creating a little tray for them to eat ham but basically potty training is not something you should expect to be successful.

@@ScottysAnimals Once again thank you for always replying to my messages and emails when ever you have a chance and for liking some of my comments on your videos. It really means a lot to me. If I lived closer and I could I would adopt a pair of your single boys that need a home and of course I’d have them living in a separate cage then my girls Virgil and Nova. Yes i’m still trying to get my mom mom to let me get another guinea pig to bond to my pair either it be another female or a neutered male, because they have been picking on each other and making crying nosies more then usual lately and it’s not even just when they are given treats and they aren’t fight over their house and who gets to lay under the second level. Virgil isn’t making the crying sound she makes when her hurt hip is touched either. There is no blood or bite marks or fur left in the cage when I check on them, but it happens more then once a day and it’s usually when I’m the only one up and usually takes place when it’s dark and in the late pm and in the early am.

I used to work at a pet store selling these things. When I'd have one that didn't sell in less than a week I'd put it in a plastic bag then put that in a long sock and go out back where I would flail it around and hit it into the concrete wall several times. Then I would take the bag out of the sock and throw it on the roof of our strip mall. Certain there are still dozens up there today, and I still have the sock I used all those years ago. I tried other things also but this was the cleanest. The first time I did it I didn't use the plastic bag and when I hit it into the wall as hard as I could the sock looked like a bloody tea bag. So yeah put it in a bag first. Hope that helps!!
