I've wanted to learn how to draw for years now but I could never stick with it. I'm very logical so creativity is new to me. As well as this, I am naturally very good academically so I'm not used to having to struggle to achieve my goals and would often give up at the first hurdle. I'm hoping that this series encourages me to keep trying and finally achieve a pride in persevering.
@Melphie104 жыл бұрын
What I love about the Concepts app is how it gives you the tools to really take your beginner doodling skills to the next level with ease. I am one of those people that innately "can't draw". I needed a new hobby to take my mind off the constant stream of bad news in the world. I decided to take up hand lettering and doodling. I didn't want to buy a lot of paper and pens before I got started with the basics. Using the Concepts app has allowed me to practice the basics and get my feet wet without investing tons of money on the materials up front. Also, sketching on a digital platform - like Concepts - gives me all sorts of handy tools that allow me to put together a full sketch project that I could never do on paper at my skill level. Tools like undo, eraser sizing, lassoing, layering, copying to clipboard, resizing, etc. If I tried to doodle a whole scene of animals on paper using pencils and markers, I would make tons of mistakes and get very frustrated before I got very far. Obviously, the goal would be to eventually not rely on these digital tools. But its nice to be satisfied with my end product, even with minimal skill, knowledge, and practice...especially since this is just a fun diversion from news, social media, etc. This Concepts app is easy to learn and I highly recommend it to fellow sketch beginners looking to get started and have some fun while learning. I also find the instructional KZbin videos very helpful.

Thanks for a great tutorial on drawing. Learned some new tips, and sometimes the simplest ones are the ones you overlook the most like dating your art. I love my roll of tracing paper. I have a sheet cutter and I would cut 12x12 sheets. That in itself was great therapy. The hard part I am having is to slow down my thoughts. I have over 30yrs of pinned up ideas. I had to put my art on the back burner. Now that I have a chance to do my art it comes out quicker than I thought so I keep a pad to jot down thoughts as I draw something else. And 2 I have to learn to relax my hand I sometimes cramp of holding a pencil hard. I have moved my hand up the pencil to loosen the grip.

I've ways envied and looked up to my big bro because of his talent for drawing, since I was little. So I'd always say "I wish I could draw" and I never do, because I'd rather not take the spotlight away from my bro. So I end up making excuses so that I never sit down and try to get better at it. But lately I have so many stories floating around in my head that I'm craving to let out, and drawing is the only way that I can realistically achieve that on my own. My one major issue is that I don't know how to develope the discipline and be patient. I end up brainstorming without ever getting anything done.
@ConceptsApp2 жыл бұрын
Sometimes creating smaller daily practices can help strengthen those discipline muscles. Building a habit is difficult no matter what it is. The more you work those muscles, the more fun it becomes.

@nobodyimportant73802 жыл бұрын
After watching a few episodes of this tutorial set, I can with 100% confidence say, the statement that ends at 41 seconds is absolutely correct, you either can or cannot draw. I have never understood why people who have a skill or ability, refuse to accept that not everyone has that skill or ability. I cannot draw a stick man to save my life, but, I can open a 3D modelling or CAD package, model an entire scene or an object, add a light source, and hey presto, easy as pie take a screen shot and done. Why is 3D easier for me? 3D space means it is 3D space, and not an illusion of 3D space. I don't have the think about perspective, foreshortening, light, shade or scale.
