One of my goals this year is to learn Biblical Hebrew, mostly because I'm interested in ancient Semitic languages. Eventually, I'd also like to study Aramaic, Phoenician, Ugaritic, and Akkadian. I've been using this channel in tandem with Pratico and Van Pelt's Biblical Hebrew textbook. Thanks for the upload!

I'm handy capped by not having a Hebrew keyboard, but the larger Ayin and Dalet letters, in Deuteronomy 6:4, the Shema, form a word, which is "ED." This word in Hebrew means "witness," and the message with this word is that we are to be a witness, or give evidence or testify, of the Oneness of God.

Thank you for this! You’ve just inspired me to make a third attempt to learn Hebrew. I’m hearing impaired as I came to learn when I was making my first attempt - I did well using the book and ordered the tape that went along with it - but when I got the tape, it was shocking, like I hadn’t learned anything (this was back in the days before PCs became common/affordable). The second try was on an iPad when programs for learning Hebrew became available and this was better, but the focus was on modern, not Biblical Hebrew, so when the iPad failed, I gave up. Now I will try your videos and hope that "third times the charm” so I can go deeper into the Hebrew scriptures beyond what I can get from BlueLetter with what I’ve retained from my previous two tries.

@ישראלבארטו

Hello teacher, please; Help me with a question in Bereshit 22:2 (Christian or Hebrew numerology, I really don't know). Why is the verb to love in the past, but they translate it into the present? that is, when it says: ... which you loved (אָהַבְתָּ) they translate it: which you love. Thank you so much!
@TheHebrewBible
@TheHebrewBible Ай бұрын
Strictly speaking, there is no "tense" in Biblical Hebrew, it's "aspect". The verb-action is either perfect (complete), or imperfect (incomplete). The word אָהַבְתָּ (ahavta) is in the perfect (qatal) conjugation. You could translate it in English as "you loved", but that might imply to some as though he doesn't love him now. The imperfect form of the word would be תֶּאֱהָב (te'ehav). I guess the qatal (perfect) form is used to indicated Abraham's love for Isaac was perfect (complete), though he will continue to express it in time.

Its a bit hard, yeah, I'm following it mainly because I've been studying Hebrew for a while, and this is nicely filling in some blanks.... it is really interesting to study Hebrew & the Bible, and here's hoping you'll stick at it. I've been using Duolingo along with other apps and YT videos. There are many options out there to use👍 Jay, you can do it!

What is the name of the savior? Is it Yeshua I have been reading that Jesus was the name of some pagan group and they are deceiving us in the king James Bible is this true

Yes, his name in hebrew is Jeshua, he is the only way to the Father, Jeshua or Jesus, was sent to earth, to be born as a baby, born of Mary and conceived from the Holy Spirit, therefore, Jesus is 100% man and 100%God. Jesus loves you and wants to save you! Come to Jesus today! Repent today and accept Jesus as your Lord and savior. ☺️💜

I have a longtime friend who is a professing Christian who has a degree in Hebrew (I'm pretty sure he can read, write, and speak Hebrew), yet he has no living relationship with the Holy Spirit. He says and does lots of religious things, no doubt to compensate for the inner (hidden) guilt he feels for having no living relationship with the Holy Spirit. So in his case, his knowledge of Hebrew hasn't done him a bit of good spiritually.

Knowledge of Biblical Hebrew doesn't imply one is righteous or lives a godly life. Here'a an example of a top scholar in Biblical Hebrew - en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jan_Joosten_(biblical_scholar)
