It's funny, because depending on where you are from, different names sound strange or foreign. Like I don't know anyone called "Brent" it's a strange name to me. On the other hand, there is a boss in RD called Callum, and Mangs has joked about that name before. But to me, that's a normal name, I know more Callums than I do Jakes. Don't get me started on how Mangs and Mekkah can't pronounce Geoffrey correctly. Hurts me everytime.

@@CoyoteXLI oh flip you're right. Very confusing. I always thought that was why people changed Geoffrey to Jeffrey/Jeff. Like how Sean becomes Shawn/Shaun. So people pronounce it properly. I still think that loads of Thracia names are translated wrong. I am sure Orsin is meant to be Oisín. And Manster? Alster? Incredibly cursed as far as I am concerned.

I remember mispronouncing my sister's name for 14 years before hearing how her friends called her. I do find it odd that English names from where I'm from are referred as Christian names instead.

"Wish Roiel would get some speed" Little did Mangs know... Also, player growths are pretty high and units tend to snowball, but enemies do so as well, stats are mostly distributed similarly to how they're done in FE12, so there's a lot of big numbers.

Agreed, but it isn’t exactly what you'd expect of your usual FE main character to just kill someone at the start. More likely then not, something like that'd happen with the main character being the one thinking it’s a bit much.

I completely agree, but after seeing that I'm hoping to see a couple of enemies with portraits show up, look as if they're recruitable, and then be impossible to get because Rakel doesn't trust any of them.

Glad it tells you how much hit/crit skill gives, as well as exactly what all luck effects rather than just a vague "improves hit". Because it's always been changing between the games, and those two stats have always had the least tangibly visible effect of any of them. Also like how Aenny/Brent start at level 3 considering they have experience fighting with Rakel, while Roiel's the new guy at level 1. Fit's nicely with Roiel/Aenny's talk convo.

19:38 it would be funny if this hack had an infection mechanic. If a unit ends the map with low hp, he/she will get sick, and unable to fight on the next map. It sounds like something Kaga would do :D

Oh boy, it's "How good was Mangs in FE12": The ROM Hack! The last time I saw this (back in FEE3 last year) I didn't see the modifiers' page at game start. Pretty hot feature. So AFAIK SoTF exemplifies having characters perform certain roles and the growth rates along with the big damage scale are meant to promote playing in a certain way. Naturally the fact there's a 0% Growths feature is a sign that no matter what happens the game should be completed even if your units get gimped. As much as I like FE12, I do admit I'm not the biggest fan of the "Rocket Tag" gameplay it promotes, and personal nitpicks but there are some aesthetic bits I'm not super sold on so this one isn't really for me, but shoutouts to the presentation. It's very solid. Good opening map, though! Short and some great pressure at the start, but nothing too overwhelming, since it's the first map after all.

I'll admit this hack's Lunatic mode looks a bit too difficult for my tastes, but there's no denying how nice this hack looks, along with the amount of effort gone into modifying the game to play how you want to, and I can really appreciate that. I'll definitely give this a download at some point. Also note to the dev: *FANTASTIC* choice for the boss music. 👌

From what I recall, the point was to balance the game like the harder difficulties of the DSFE games, so hit rates are high and offensive stats are good while defensive stats are bad, for both the player and the enemy. It's an interesting dynamic to be sure.

I'm going to guess that this hack will get ludicrously hard from the halfway point. Also even though this is the first chapter, it's looks really good. Although I do kinda wish that we could see prologue at the beginning. It just kinda feels like that you are just pushed into the story without any info about what the situation is.

Canto: Move after taking an action (except attacking) Super Canto: Move after taking an action or attacking. Idk what Thracia trading is tbh but I tend to see it being used for just normal trading.

I think one way to look at this hack unit growth is not that the growths are boosted, but as all unit have a very BAD growth in one area... if you think like after 20 levels all units will have a very weak stat compared to all other stats, like the archer will have less than 5 defense and res by average at level 20 but will always max strength. Very weird, and if ther enemies follow the same pattern, it will mean that most enemies will have a silver bulltet like "this boss is invincible to weapons but die one hit to magic" and things like that.

Having the stat screen explain how each stat affects the calculations is really good, something that should have been in vanilla games IMO. I like to know how +1 in speed translates into avoid, or how +1 in skill translates into crit chance.

Berwick Saga has an amazing range system. In which 0 range is melee, 1 range ins Pillums, Javelins, Handaxes tomahawks, and any throwable weapons alongside Crossbows, Bows are 2 range. This system made bows amazing without being overpowered as hell...unlike Three houses and Echoes *cough* Close counter *cough* +2 range. It also made fast units like Myrimdons and Swordmasters amazing against 1 range as this system allows them to counter 1 range if they are fast enough. This affects you too so...you have to be careful against the fast units. Even so, the combat system doesn't allow enemy phase at all...like if you get hit and damaged that it...end of the battle...so Armour Knights can actually useful for once as they can tank due to their large shields but..they have low movement but again...some maps in Berwick saga heavily favour foot units. Like being mounted in this game doesn't automatically make you good as there are cliffs, your horse can die, are expensive to replace if you what a good horse, enemies often have horse killing weapons, etc. Also, the Shield system in Berwick Saga is amazing. PS: Doubling is not in this game unless the enemy counters and miss or deals no damage and you enough speed.. then you double. There are ways to bypass that like Deathmatch which forces both you and the foe in five rounds of combat...this is heavily risky though as you can easily die from this, Adept (Depends on speed), + the number of strikes (often rare), and pursuit...but there are only two units with pursuit...one that joins really late and the other is...a unit you need to train in order to get pursuit so...overall, no one can one-round most enemies without some teamwork. Overall Mangs, I hope that you are reading this and that...you will get a chance to play Berwick Saga...it a masterpiece of Kaga creation

I’m playing this on lunatic reverse, 3 chapters in and I feel like that I’ve made a grave mistake. This hack is like on a whole new level of difficulty compared to Justice and Pride (at least the early game seems super painful). And also I feel a bit betrayed by Mangs because he didn’t pick reverse lol Maybe it’s just that I’m bad at fire emblem though
