That was so easy to understand you explain it, I was confused from the first one I saw, glad I saw this one

Have just viewed this video with my granddaughter (nearly 12), and this looks like our August craft so she can wear it in September. she thinks you look cool. thanks for the idea and example.

One of the things that you can do rather than heming is to encase the edges with something else. I used to have one that had a nice piece of, I believe, cloth ribbon just folded around the rim for a bit of added detail, though the inside of the actual hood portion had a lining unlike the lower portions which didn't. I've seen some used where they used chrome tan leather for that purpose as well, though that had the leather hemmed before folding it around the rims. You can also extend the pattern to a larger point to get other forms with later cuts rather easily such as a more circle hood than the angles, but that feels less dwarven there.

some good ideas, however I would stay clear of using leather on fabric, it is fine for looks/functionality but if your going to wear your clothing heavily it will make it a lot more complex to wash without washing soap spoiling the leather
@AzraelThanatos Жыл бұрын
@@IodoDwarvenRanger It's more of the "leather ribbons" that a lot of fabric stores have available for that kind of use. I've seen them, heavily, used with heavier fabrics for things such as hats and coats which wouldn't be washed as much there if at all with some of them beyond wipe downs.

@@AzraelThanatos true, but those are mostly just made of PU leather, then if you were getting it wet out walking etc... if it were real leather you would have to keep treating it with wax or polish to stop it from cracking, but if you like the look go for it

Thank you for speaking to individual fitting, as some of us are rather more "plus-size" than others. The idea of measuring off something that already fits is brilliant. Thanks again.

I like your modification! I intend to follow along-to an extent. I’ll be making a cut down the front square-kite-thing for front lacing, just so it fits my own style a bit better. I’ll need mine to fit a Dúnedain aesthetic, after all
@IodoDwarvenRanger2 жыл бұрын
cool, front lacing will work, I made a hood like that a few years ago, for the Dúnedain aesthetic you'd be best making the top of the hood curved instead of pointed too, good luck ;)

sjkoldeharbour hood, theeasiest hood to make, just one large square and two small ones. i have done several ones. including one that is inspired by a santas hood. and a few of my hoods i even made a celtic knot embrodery on the chestsquare

Your modifications to Viking hood are genius! I really enjoyed this video! And I think that kite shape is called deltoid.

Thank you for the video. Do you have a name or link under which the houndstooth fabric can be bought?
@IodoDwarvenRanger10 ай бұрын
no, sorry, it came from an upholstery wholesale warehouse as a bolt end, it was just labeled "tweed wool", I have no idea what mill it comes from
