Part 1, Professional drywall finishing a Bad butt joint!

Pretty slick man,no doubt you know what you're doing that butt joint looks good now,as a hanger for 33 year's I always tried to avoid breaking one like that but sometimes it does happen but I was taught to always hang it as if I was finishing it keep everything good and tight,put plugs in when it was out of square and you couldn't help but to have a gap but my ole buddy that taught me wasn't gonna leave a crack we plugged all of them so the finisher would have a better base to work with, just little things to help out the next man down the line like I see you do in your videos doesn't take that long to do a good job it will certainly keep you plenty of work great job bud

On your next coat do you make it wider or is 12" on either side about as wide as you get for these bad joints?

I will go just a little bit wider, I believe there is another video of me skimming this exact but joint. If you get the full the first time, it shouldn’t take to much for second time.

@@manwithapan thanks, I'll look for that video. Full as flat with the part that is rocking? So in this video like 3/4" of mud closest to where it's rocking?

@@adde32332 you have to leave mud on the outside of the tape so that the tape itself doesn’t make a speed bomb. That’s specific but joint there was no way to get completely flat but you can get it smooth from side to side without revealing the joint in the middle if you understand what I mean

How come you don't do like the others, use butt board, ( because they can't finish 🤫) lol....but I like your method and that is to define your self.....a finisher finishes drywall, period....👍 Enjoyed the video as always, have a great day

Thanks, We use butt board in big houses, this was a newer crew we have been trying out. This was a remodel house and the framing was 60 years old. Out of square and that ceiling had massive rolls in it.
