I’m seeing finishers who are using mudding tools and taping tools who are all about production and they only want smooth results instead of having flat results

Yeah, a lot of them run the boxes and think that’s suffice. But the reality is if you don’t knife, check them sometimes you’ll get Hopi flats as they might be set wrong and leaving too much mud.

It’s a simple as taking a 12 inch knife and checking the flat to see if it’s actually flat after the box is ran it. Boxes in my opinion are strictly for putting the mud on so you don’t have to sit there and stupid out of your pen and apply it by hand
