[Part 1] Rappers React to Korean Hip-Hop for the First Time - 3RACHA

Since there since to be a common concern among all 5 parts of the video, I figured I'd give my reasons for choosing the artists I did: ◽ For starters, I had subscribers chose what songs they wanted a reaction for by my guests. I asked for K-Hip-Hop song recommendations. I am not familiar with what would be considered K-Hip-Hop or not which is why I asked for recommendations. These songs seemed to be requested a lot so I went with it. Please keep in mind, I am NOT saying the artists are K-Hip-Hop artists since I would not be able to make the distinction. ◽ Second reason was because I assumed K-Hip-Hop was a sub-genre of Hip-Hop (just like how American Hip-Hop is). By going with this definition, I assumed these songs would be classified as "K-Hip-Hop" since it fits the parent genre of Hip-Hop. From what I can tell, there is conflict in this definition among viewers as well. Some are saying it is a genre and other say it is an industry/artist. I am still not to sure which it is, but that brings me to the next point. ◽ Third reason was because I asked 2 friends in Korea, and they both seemed to agree that all the songs I chose can be considered K-Hip-Hop. One of them does not like idol music or K-Pop and exclusively listen to K-Hip-Hop. He still agreed that these songs would be considered K-Hip-Hop. ◽ In the end, whether or not these songs are K-Hip-Hop is hard for me to tell. However, I am fine with you having a CIVIL discussion about this topic! I will make a community post in which you can discuss this if you want!

Hi, I 100% understand the reasoning of choosing these artists, I just wanted to add my own two cents. Technically, these songs by the kpop artists, like BTS, 3RACHA and so on, are korean hip hop. However, there seem to be some kind of consensus in the khiphop community (both artists and fans) that idols do not count as khiphop (with some few exeptions like MINO from Winner). I think it boils down to that Kpop can be any genre, it can be hip hop, it can be ballads, but the thing that makes it kpop is the industry. It is groups and artists that get trained for years and put together to debut and often don't make their own songs and lyrics. Of course, in the case of the artists you've chosen, they actually do compose their own music and makes their own raps, at least for the hip hop style songs. Also, in the khiphop industry they usually start off underground, and if they do well they can join a crew or a label. It's all about their own skills. Some idols started off as underground rappers, like RM from BTS and LE from EXID, but are no longer considered khiphop as they've left that scene. Also, it seems to be matter if you're in the scene, if you make music with other khiphop artists or not. Kpop idols however usually just make music within their group. I personally don't care if it's khiphop or not, it's just good music :) It would've been fun though if they reacted to more of typical khiphop like you did in the end with H1GHR Music :)

The first perfomance (Runner's High) was their first stage perfomance EVER and they were around 16-19 at that time. How impressive is that! They also writes, composes and produces all of their tracks! They are lyrical geniuses, so watching their tracks with lyrics are unbelievable experience! You definitely have to check out Maze od Memories, Tortoise and the Hare, We go and Start Line. And Changbin's Cypher! And Han's I GOT IT!

Thank you so much for your reactions. 3Racha is a sub unit of the K-pop group Stray Kids. 3Racha writes and produces most all of stray kids discography with the help of their company JYP. 3Rachas were the first in the group and the leader Bang Chan is from Australia (blonde hair tallest) He hand picked all of the members in their group. He has been in the business since he was 13 yrs old. He is super multi talented. Changebin is one of the fastest rappers in K-pop, his rap style is usually dark and aggressive Han (squirrel) Is one of the best free style rappers he has a quick wit and awesome stage presents. They incorporate a lot of rap in most of their songs with combination of vocals. They only debuted in 2018 but are coming up fast behind BTS, Blackpink, Itzy and global well known., They are listed as #5 k-pop sellers for 2020. The group has 8 members but debuted with 9. They lost one in 2019 for personal reasons. They all can rap, dance and have amazing vocals. I know you are reacting to rappers, but love to see your reactions to stray kids District 9 and Hellevator, Mirror performance video is mostly rap. I think you will be supersized and will enjoy the music. Another good k-pop group is Ateez, their leader is great at rapping. and also incorporate rap style with vocals. They are different and unique with a Latin rock flair and considered pirates of k-pop. No matter what you react to i look forward to seeing more. Thanks again.

you're pronouncing their name correctly! it's a play on the hot sauce "sriracha". the meaning behind the name is that sriracha goes with everything and they bring the ✨ spice ✨ to the table, as well as having three members. some of these are repeated but - tortoise and the hare (stray kids) - carpe diem live performance (3racha) - matroshyka (3racha) - i got it (han - skz record) thank you for your honest and supportive review!

I love 3racha and I would call them khiphop but they are also part of kpop group so if you want some solely khiphop artists and see what that part of industry offers I would recommend Justhis, Giri boy, etc. There is also show called show me the money which is a competition between Korean rappers. You can check which rappers are there as coaches and react to them so you have a place to start.

They are actually a subunit of the kpop group Stray Kids, where basically all the members can rap, and their music is really rap influenced and heavy too, so you might really like God's Menu and Back Door. As for 3RACHA themselves, they have a whole soundcloud and youtube with their music. My top songs you should check out are Maze of Memories (both 3racha and stray kids as a group have version and they're both great), trotroise and the hare, and Changbin's Cypher and Han's "I Got It." If you want more chill stuff, I HIGHLY recommend Stray Kids' song "Easy." You mentioned how they were fast, and one of the guys (Changbin) is actually one of the fastest rappers in K-Pop. There's a phenomenal youtube channel called Car Kpop and he is really into K-Hip Hop and Stray Kids/3RACHA if you'd like to learn more about the technicality of their music. Can't wait to see more!

I recomend Maze of memories but there are 2 versions of it the stray kids version and the 3racha version that they performed for Kcon Thailand. I also recommend Matroska(I think I spelled it wrong not sure) they performed it on their survival show but with only Han and Changbin.
