Love this kind of video. Only problem was the sound on the insert videos, if you can lower the sound of the shooting video while you are talking. Overall love it.

Thank you! I appreciate your comment and that is exactly the kind of feedback I need. I'll adjust the volume on the next episode.

Great video. It shows quite a bit of shooting and good coverage of the guns being used. I am all about the guns. I would like to see some in depth reviews on the different guns and their functions used in SASS.

Thanks for the comment. I’ve been doin’ a series on the loadouts I use in the sport, hope you’ve been able to watch ‘em. -Jed (playin’ catch up on a bunch of old comments I missed!)

What was his procedural for Guess I missed it

It’s a little hard for me to remember from 7 years ago 😉 I went back and rewatched it, looks like TJ shot the 2nd set of revolvers in the wrong order (might have had to start on the top target and he started on the bottom… not sure exactly what happened but it looks like that’s where he got the penalty).

How do you define squib? or what ever it is you said when there was a miss fire?
@JEDiTV8 жыл бұрын
I would define a "squib" as any round that is "fired" but doesn't have enough energy to exit the barrel. For example, the primer pops but the cartridge has no powder in it and therefore doesn't travel far enough to leave the barrel. This creates a very dangerous situation should the shooter fire another, full/normal powered round. That would cause it to stack up with the stuck bullet and, often times, that energy of the moving bullet suddenly stopped by the stuck bullet results in budge or split barrels, or worse. In this case Sourdough's 10th round from his 2nd rifle (at about 10 minutes into the video) fails to fire. The hammer drops on a live round and nothing happens. In this case, upon reviewing the video, I didn't necessarily hear the primer "pop" so I don't actually know if it was a bad primer or a squib. As the timer operator I err on the side of caution and will stop the shooter from firing anymore rounds. If it was my error and I stopped a shooter when he didn't actually have a "squib" then he would be eligible to reshoot the stage do to RO/TO (Range Officer/Timer Operator) interference. I hope that definition helps.

So does every one bring enough guns or do others loan out their guns for this type of stage?
@JEDiTV Жыл бұрын
Everyone brings enough guns. Often it is just a matter of getting together with a shooting pard and putting your gear together and then you have enough.

seeing that you run blackpowder do you clean your guns between stages or run a patch through them if so could you please do a video on it

You know this looks like a bunch of fun buy it also looks extremely expensive to get into. I think it would be very informative and might help go your sport, If perhaps you did a video about some of the cost. Maybe to include but limited to ways to make it affordable, and ways to reduce the initial investment. I would love to to get into this and live just down in Redding Ca. Thanks love your videos Keep up the good work.

Corey, This is definitely something that folks have been asking about. And it is on my list of videos to cover. Their are a few similarly themed videos on KZbin so the challenge is in coming up with new, relevant information and putting my "flare" on it. Thanks for the feedback and keep an eye out for a episode dedicated to this topic in 2016. Also, have you been out to your local clubs? Try there for some used gear. AND, make the drive up to see me on the 4th Saturday in Yreka, CA. I shoot with, and am the current Territorial Governor for, the Hawkinsville Claim Jumpers. I'd be happy to sit and chat with you in person about guns and gear and costs! Thanks again for watching and for commenting!!

Yep...True Grit ain't for the weak of heart. As Jed so aptly put it....lots of shootin' and lots of fun. This shoot can really test your metal and then some. Great video Jed.
