Such a joy to watch the coordination of the trucks, your team, local law enforcement, utilities if needed, and road construction crews. I'm sure it doesn't always work smooth, but I hope that's the rare exception.

Surprising that it works as well as it does actually. Sometimes we look like a well oiled machine but the truth is we switch out team members almost every day for different reasons. But we come together and still manage to get it done. Of course sometimes you get a new team member who isn’t up to par but the bad ones only make you appreciate the good ones!

I dabble in a bit of everything. I actually hold a commercial pilots license. After you’ve been lost in a thunderstorm with low fuel at night there’s not much on the ground that is scary! It might sound far fetched but the two jobs have similarities. Attention to detail, cool nerves, trip planning, navigating, radio communications it’s all kinda the same in a way!

you really look like a guy who have the best job in the world ! If its what you think you have, it is what you have ! so many challenges of all sizes You just cant get bored doing that. Large expeditions in a quest to deliver something precious to someone, fighting low cables and branches instead of orcs and giants, finding ways to deal with the crazy administrative sh*** instead of a level boss, your biggest ennemy, the uneven terrain always ready to strangle you somewhere in a sharp turn or a too angled slope. watching the air and the ground for potential troubles and everything. thats an adventure in wich you have the chance to be the hero and we the public have the chance to see. Hope you got a bunch of good fishes in that fishing trip.

A big part of these move is what you don’t see on camera. The trip planning. Because we have a specific route to follow and because these trucks are too big for some truck stops it can be a challenge. A lot of times we will disconnect at a rest area and bobtail to the nearest truckstop for fuel.

A lot of times it means detaching the trailer and bobtailing to the pumps for fuel. Sometimes we can’t even fit in the truckstop at all so we detach at a rest area.

All seriousness guy you do a hell of a job and sometimes yes as we both know you have to be very patient. This job is not for everyone unfortunately some companies and drivers think it is and that makes for a lot of problems in the industry. Go catch a big one and have a great pan fry.

Often oversize loads are not technically allowed to run close together. They prefer we disrupt traffic for numerous short periods of time. The trucks were no more than 15 minutes apart for the majority of the trip.

Merci pour les commentaires! #1 les deux raisons principale pour quitter l’autoroute est l’hauteur libre des viaducs et aussi pour les zones de construction avec largeur réduit. #2 je utilise souvent des mirrors extensibles en vrai largeur. Ils sont justement présent dans cet vidéo. Mais non je les utilise pas pour une petit voyage de 12’ #3 oui je le sais pour le qualité de son. Je vais intégré une micro dans les futurs projets. It's doubtful even if Douglas had the numbers that his boss would be happy with them being made public. you can always ask your local police what they would charge for the escort of a load, then you will get an idea.

Because the office staff calculated that steering axles were not necessary 👎. A steerable trailer is heavier and often puts the permits into a different category requiring police escorts ect… it’s all about $$$

Ça dépends vraiment du voyage. Y en a pas deux qui ce porte pareille. Souvent ont va être capable de rouler à 100km/h sur l’autoroute même avec un gros voyage mais j’en ai déjà vu aussi qui était moins stable en haut de 80 donc on roule modérer

I hate those auto engine fans on those trucks! SO LOUD. And they rob at least 5 H.P. from the engine when they kick on. I liked the old style. When the engine got too hot, just flip a switch. :)

I believe part of the fuel consumption trouble we are having with those trucks is due to the fan running all the time
