Actually you have put on tanpura in the background of 'e' scale. And the same pitch of the song you have chosen. So it was clear in the beginning that the Sa of song is 'e' .

Swar Pooja: I played this clip a couple of times to check on the points. It really helped to find the "Sa" of the song, thereby the scale. In the song tujhe dekha tho ye jaana sanam, the resting note falls on E. Eminor the original scale of the song. Now, I understand we can take it as a general rule, the resting note in the 1st or 2nd line falls back on the Sa. Ofc exceptions wud exist I reckon. For my level of keyboard playing, this point is very helpful. Ty! :)

Very nice, Ms. Pooja. Thank you! You are an accomplished musician and can easily match the harmonium note (pitch) to the vocal. I hum the note and use a simple pitch meter app (Pano Tuner) on my iPhone, to show both the tonic (Sa) and its octave. I hope to get trained enough, to eventually use the harmonium.
