Thanks again to both of you for sharing all those piano technique "secrets"! If you filmed this in one session as it appears to me, it must have been a whole lot of input! Good point to split it up for the audience. So interesting, though!! I have even more respect for every good technician out there!

Josh: Thanks for this whole series. As someone who has only had their piano (Baldwin R) tuned but never regulated, I have wondered whether the touch could be improved. Repeated notes, for example, seem weak. Now I understand that there are adjustments that can improve this if I can find a skilled technician.

so do you recommend a stronger spring setting for player pianos. My player seems to miss notes on a very low volume setting. Thanks for your explanations. Very helpful.

Great :) a part 11 with let-off and drop distance / Strings would be Nice.

Let off is 1/16 inch below the string, drop is 1/16 inch below let off. I find it best to rough in let off and drop with a string height jig on a bench and do the final regulation in the piano.

This is gold: kzbin.info/www/bejne/Z3-4pGuhp7Vph8k#t=2m55s Hyrum hits the nail on the head and exactly explains the solution to my Spirio's sluggish repetition on a few notes. I'm amazed.
