I experimented with gasket surfaces in the cleaning process and when using permatex it’s amazing. To prep the area, use some red label rubbing alcohol after you do the typical scrape and wipe down. It is insane how much better the permatex bonds. I did it for the front and rear of an intake for a Chevrolet and had to remove it about a year afterward and it was tremendously bonded to the motor and intake. I had serious difficulty removing it. Enjoy.

I'm having a "no spark" issue on my 1980 xlh1000. Brand new regulator, coil, battery. I changed the dyna-s electronic ignition n still no fire. Coil tested n good. Bike was idling and a circuit breaker hit my frame n shut my bike down. The new electronic ignition is a cheap, knock off. I'll order quality one this week. Any idea why I got no spark???

hi George, very interesting case you have, hard for me to advice without seeing it myself. You dont mention about spark plugs themselves but I believe you tested these and you can see sparks coming out ? Have you adjusted all timings in a correct way ? cheers

I know you probably don't care for input, everything you're doing looks fantastic, but on "paper" gaskets, you shouldn't use gaskachinch or permatex on both sides only on one. It tends to deform gasket if you use it on both sides.

hi Dale, I have been using gasket seal always on both sides and never had any issue. It sticks very well and seals very strong.

I just use hames gaskets. For how often ironheads need to be serviced I do g use silicone. Too much cleanup
