I am this close to giving up on Hollyoaks. John Paul has been made the pin cushion for every psycho and human trash that walks in his environment. This is so unreal it doesn't even resemble reality for even part of the time. What is wrong with the writers? I thought they wanted in increase in viewership.

I want JP to deserve a good love life. I want him to stop being a martyr!! Let anyone suffer their consequences. Poor JP, I want him to migrate to some place which he can relax and be free, and come back when EVERYTHING is really okay! Like everything. He shouldnt be stressing out, he is pure unlike Ste who is a huge mess sometimes. He is just too good to face others' mistakes. ugh*

"Is Ste gonna die?" Subtle foreshadowing are we, Theresa? Ste's one of the longest running characters on Hollyoaks, with enough pain and tragedy experienced to fill several lifetimes. Killing him off would be sad, but it wouldn't be a total surprise especially when afflicted with an incurable condition.

I think I'm done with this story for a while. Can someone please message me and let me know if... a) ...Brendan comes back to stay b) ...Brendan comes back to take Ste away c) ...Ste stops falling into the pit, gets his life straightened out and gets a new love interest (someone who can actually rival Brendan) ...?

I think the only resolution to Ste problem is to bring back Brendan. Even if they briefly let Ste go visit him in prison. I agree he's a mess and it's to much to bare now.

Brendan is no angel. But he and Ste are both so broken that they complete each other in a strange way. And just for the record - I have no problem with Ste ending up with someone else. I like John Paul. And yes, he and Ste can be good together...at times. But Ste is self destructive and John Paul has a tendency to not see (or choose to not see) his partner's flaws or problems (remember how long Craig kept stringing him along with Sarah?). They are both great characters and they can be cute together, but when the sh*t hits the fan they just don't fit. Like I have written before - Ste needs a strong counterpart to function properly. I haven't seen anyone like that on the show since Brendan, so right now he seems like the perfect/only guy for Ste. But I'm not naive, I know Emmet Scanlan probably won't be back on the show (at least not for a while). So the only thing I'm asking is for the show to stop punishing Ste all the time (seriously, *every time* since Brendan left he starts to get his life together something terrible happens!) and either give him some kind of decent exit (possibly with a guest stint by Emmett Scanlan) *OR* a strong partner who can actually give him some stability and stop him from falling!! When that happens I hope someone lets me know :) PS: I haven't actually watched the storyline since I wrote the original comment, so if anything I wrote above has changed since then and Ste (and JP) is in a stable relationships without any problems, by all means let me know ;) PPS: I really think you *should* watch the Stendan storyline. Whether you like Brendan or not, the dynamic between the two of them is one of the most interesting things I've seen on tv in a *long* time :)

Jean Paul is just too good for Ste and I like Ste but he is a mess. As for Sinead, can she just have this kid and then die somewhere? Every time she opens her gob and that adenoid riddled voice comes out I want to puke!

Well said, VV. It would seem the writers and producers are following an approach as in advertising where annoying and stupid is ok so long as an ad is memorable. However, they are approaching a "critical mass" (with me at least) of making these characters and situations too annoying and stupid to care about anymore.

MemphoOnTheMississippi Exactly! I love a good villain like Brendan Brady or Warren Fox or even Walker and Niall but this new crop are just plain stupid. Why would anyone be caught up in their spell anyway? A sensible person would have poisoned them both by now! You don't care anything about them. Like, I have to love/hate a villain but those 2 just make me hate. Hate when they are on screen because they are so annoying!

John Paul is way too good for Ste! Can't John Paul just have a normal, functional, non-dramatic relationship for once! Craig was such a train wreck! Spike might have been alright if they would have stayed together! I liked Kieron but he was way too insecure and I hated that he was killed by John Paul's big brother Nial! I'll always love Doug, but they were better friends than lovers! John Paul should have someone that actually puts him first for once! Ste's a selfish git half the time, or a completely neurotic mess the other half! Sorry, Ste is a good character for drama, and sometimes he can be really cool, but he drives me absolutely crazy most of the time because he just won't think before he acts or says something! He's not good for John Paul! Not stable enough!
