Dan, great set of videos clearly explaining the methodology that is much more promising than "a floating bobber + fly". Thank you! I have two questions and one small suggestion. When used with two flies, how the first one is tied, directly to the main leader as in a drop shot rig? When drifting, the floating crankbait attachment does not allow to change the depth, how do you deal with it? In all cases you attach the leader to the top ring of the swivel and the lure to the bottom ring, I believe that you will get even less tangles attaching both to the bottom one. At least it is worth to try.

I tried your suggestion today of tying the fly leader to the bottom of the swivel where the crankbait is attached and it is pretty tangle free. However if you want to swap in a sinking crankbait or spoon that method would reduce the wobble. Regarding the fixed line limitation, when I fish nymphs with a fly rod and strike indicator I find that I never adjust the indicator, so it isn't much of a limitation. When using a spinning rod I commonly swap in a sinking crankbait or spoon if I encounter a deep pool worth exploring.

Never been fly fishing but I have been advised that the double rig large then small fly is very effective. Told that the large fly gets their attention then the small one gets nabbed. I lure fish for perch and pike in the UK. I have tried the 2 fly method on a cheb rig a couple of times without success,however when I used the same method with a bigger craw lure followed by a tiny pink fry lure,I immediately got bites and caught a pike and a couple of perch. Could you use a 3 way swivel with a crank or swim bait attached to the part sticking out and the small fly on a floor leader trailing from the bottom end of the trailer You explain things very well by the way

You could use a 3 way swivel rig but I would not recommend it. Those are usually used for bait fishing or trolling. When you cast a lot they tend to get tangled so I like to keep everything in a straight line.

@@CoppersmithStudios1 Thank you for your response,il give it a go on the 3 way swivel and then your advised method and let you know I love fishing a spoon I have caught so many different species on them and most people don't bother with them. Fishing flies with a spinning rod is genius. With one rod you can fish pretty much any fly size, whereas you need different sized fly rods to fish different sized flies.

It should work really good. I would recommend a spoon for the best casting distance and a streamer imitating the local baitfish.
