Hey! I haven't seen any of your videos lately. Hmm... OK, I subscribed. It's always nice being in da U.P., eh? Ever thought about tossing a crawler? There's no shame in that. Especially in these little streams. Thanks for posting. sw

The reason why I don't fish live bait is because it would slow me down and I need to travel and film as much of the streams as I can. But I did make an exception and fished dough balls on Biscuit Creek.

Lighter line smaller than 6lbs is not good at all for me lost to much fish with less. Learn my lesson and ben fishing for 30 years. Because of a branch or big rock the fish can go to and hide and brake the line. Not much open water much. I've had a fish brake it in the water current alone snap it but less with 6 lbs line.

You stated fly fishing on a spinning rods what year was that. Because my granddaughter told me about it and ben using one from the late 80's it has no name on it no more. I can put both reels on it and the spinning reel goes on it with rings. I'm in New Mexico. I still use it to this day. So nice to use one rod for everything.

Fish the Alabama rig with 6 flys to 10 fly's best for me. Your saying the spoons don't spin 🤔 I'm a big Red Devil spinner guy still. But getting into fox spinner for both in one. Nice or put a different fly sometimes on it.

Streams like this I usually skip because they are way too shallow and clear to catch browns consistently. If you can see the bottom, the fish has already seen you. Very rarely do you have the advantage, they even get spooked from casting with dry fly line. During the summertime when the rivers lower slightly and vegetation increases, it's almost impossible. I would highly recommend checking out other streams that have deeper pools and bigger runs. They will hold bigger browns, nice rainbows, and even a few brookies. Some of my favorite streams in the driftless have pools over 5ft deep - great for mousing in July and August at night!

Outstanding video! Great ideas, logic and scientific approach. What leader did you use for the dry flies? Mono or fluoro? Thank you!
@CoppersmithStudios120 күн бұрын
I use fluorocarbon for all leaders including dry flies despite the lighter weight of mono. It allows me to use the strongest line I can get away with.

Beautiful nature and landscape! Awesome video! Thank you for sharing! I was hooked on your video - how to fish flies with the spinning rod, floating crankbaits etc. and was laughing seeing you giving up and switching to the fly fishing gear! 🙂 Good luck and God bless you! It would be awesome if you would share the list of the equipment you are using under every video, I suppose that would be of a great value for the viewers and followers! Thank you!
@CoppersmithStudios120 күн бұрын
I use a fly rod when practical because my viewers demand it and I admit it looks better, but when conditions get tough I am quick to put on a spinning reel. I will adding info about the spin-fly rods used in the near future as that is a new type of equipment that I invented and have a patent on.

I've fished it many times and have always been driven off by heavy monsoon rain. Hell with getting struck by lightning, I was more afraid of a flash flood up in the canyon! Great fishing, though.

Did you carry a real compass too? Could you realistically have left a trail markings path? Something to guide you out again!
@CoppersmithStudios127 күн бұрын
I do carry a compass but without a map I am highly reliant on my GPS. I carry spare batteries. Trail markers would be hard to do out there.

I don't think a lot of people understand that you should be concealed as much as possible when fishing for trout in smaller streams. I find that I caught a lot more when I'm hiding or blending in.
@CoppersmithStudios129 күн бұрын
That's probably true but it isn't very cinematic.

Hi sir. Im thinking about this today. Thx. We have few offers of fly f rods in Brazil and are so expensive and poor warranty. I will try to use carbon spining rods with fly line and reels. Do you have a idea to 8wt number? I will try saltwater.
@michaelchandler8022Ай бұрын
That is cool that you found a place remote enough (by the Cow Creek trailhead) where you were able to have success with spinners. But I take it that you would recommend fly fishing almost everywhere else in that general area? Like in most of the snake river watershed?
@CoppersmithStudios1Ай бұрын
Yes. Because of the pressure and education of the fish flies imitating the local bugs are best.
