I have a dumb question. When measuring The pivot ball heights. Do you go by inch or millimeters?

Great video. No BS straight to the point. I have a GM 153 tooth pre 1986 flywheel/flexplate (two piece rear main seal) adapter plate on a 1.9 TDI diesel. This is a Short block. Since the swap I had trouble with the clutch not releasing. The original swap I extended the slave rod which solved the release issue but throwout did last 15000 miles. I thinking its the Flywheel(30 lbs out of corvette). I just purchased new LUK clutch assembly with new slave and same issue. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Hey slt223, That's a great question!! I've always had my clutch/flywheel balanced together as a unit on this motor. I never really asked the engine builder why it was always just common practice when I ordered a new clutch assembly from him he always told me to bring in the flywheel so he could balanced the assembly. I wish I had more to offer but I ain't got nothing more!!! Thanks For posting Johnny K

Thanks for the compliment. I'm still editing part 17. Should be posted next week. Centerforce I believe you can download their instructions. 1)Just remember not to measure the overall thickness of the flywheel itself. 2)Clutch disc side(or machined side) of the flywheel goes down on the work bench. 3)Then place a depth mic across the face where the flywheel bolts to the crank itself. 4)Plug the number you just got into the formula 5)Adjust the clutch fork pivot ball to the correct height.

Do these measurements apply to a SBC as well? Know the flywheels are interchangeable as are the bellhousings so if I had the 168 tooth flywheel and 621 bellhousing typically used on the BBC, I'm good with your numbers - right?
