Thank you. I had read the Hurst Driveline guide but seeing a visual demonstration makes a world of difference.

This is a fantastic video that clarified many things I was wondering about. I do agree with others that showing the rotation of the dial indicator would have been icing on the cake. Most of us weekend hobbyists aren't very familiar with dial indicators and how to place them properly...seems to take some time to get them set up properly. Hey! Great idea for next video! How to set up a dial indicator properly! Show us!

great video! I appreciated your demonstration of the procedure that was backed up by the measurement tolerances. Also your one-inch mark tip on the point with a local maximum reading was super helpfull!

Searched far and wide for the easiest way to align the BH - yours was definitely the best, most complete. One other tip for those who are real familiar with a dial indicator, take a few minutes to bone up on the plunger movement so you don't fumble around for a week trying to figure it out like I did. The plunger must be partially depressed when going through John's exercises so you actually have positive / negative movement. And the adjustable dowels recommended here are awesome - wouldn't use anything else.

Very informative John! Have everything ready to proceed with this operation. It would be real nice to have it align within spec on bolt up. But that is not my usual luck. Thanks a bunch for making this, it will be of great use. Awesome job on the video too!

What about indicator sag? Believe it or not all those joints and the rod itself will sag from its own weight and the weigjt of the indicator, easily .010-.015.

Nicely done. Wish you would have shown the spinning of the flywheel to get your measurements. Also, you never mentioned why your initial 11 o'clock mark was where it was.
@johnnykcarsnguitars11 жыл бұрын
Hey Jeff Braun, Thanks for taking the time to post and the nice compliment, much appreciated. I was trying to reduce the length of the video. I ended up taking the spinning of the flywheel, showing the dial indicator measurements out. The initial 11 o'clock mark was my mark for my readings. The making of this video was an after thought and I never thought to remove my mark on the bell housing. I can see where that could be confusing. Thanks for watching. Happy Thanksgiving!! Johnny K

Hi John. how do you guarantee that the hole in the bell housing is centered in the bellhousing? If it is not centered in relation to the bolt holes for the transmission then it isn't a valid place to take the measurements.

Thanks. I’m asking myself the same question.

This adjusts the bellhousing to the motor. But how do we align the transmission to the bellhousing?
@michaelpowers3045 Жыл бұрын
I built a 1965 Chevelle with an L-88 and Muncie. I couldn’t get the transmission to shift right, had a terrible vibration in high gear, and the clutch slipped, it was all because of the scattershield alignment.

Hi Om adjusting the pivot pin height toi 4.750 43/4 inch correct ,, why cant I cut a 2x4 to 4.750 inch and use it between the flywheel and pivot ball ?? this is after centering bell housing of course
