Also be careful installing thise torque converter seals. I have seen the garter spring fly off from the shock of the blows required to seat the new seal. Its recommended to use the correct seal tool as it puts tension on the garter spring preventing it from flying off.

I was able to get the converter properly seated but it was off camera. The pump was apparently the main problem to begin with. I believe that is what made the converter fail. I was on a time crunch or I would have checked the internals more. Live and learn.

Did the engine oil leak stop?

is it just me or were those flex plate bolts tightening in a left handed motion? are they reverse thread?

They are not reverse threaded. The Camara has the picture reversed. It does look weird.

@@kwsgarage9609 certainly had me wondering. did you go back in and replace the pump? ive witnessed alot of pump failures from not nesting the converter properly from what i could tell you got the 20mm you needed 3/4". never saw anyone do the rear main seal. it does make sense to do so while the transmissions off. you didnt have remove oil pans to get the seal job done? previous commenter mentioned this. im not sure why you would...

Had plenty of skilled mechanics on a forum tell me to drop the bottom half of the oil pan to correctly seal that rear main with permatex. How did your fix work out? I’m curious if there were any leaks afterwards.

The transmission had no leaks. However we figured out that the main problem was the pump. Thanks for che king
