You do understand that $2,800 is NOT AFFORDABLE for most people to shoot some groundhogs and coyotes.. even deer. An affordable gun for the average guy is $750 or less . If these manufacturers made affordable rifles in this caliber, it would take off in sales, and then the ammo would come down in price and a lot more ammo companies would produce it. Don't forget about the broke farmer that's looking for a truck gun to protect his crops and doesn't cost a mortgage payment or more. And if your gonna shoot it at 3000 with a short barrel doesn't that defeat the purpose of the 22 creedmoor caliber?🤷♂️ your getting ppc speeds
@longrangeprecisionshooters89353 ай бұрын
Well, let me address this one point at a time. First off, I never said it was affordable for all. That’s not the point of this video. I’m saying, this meets the minimum metrics of what I require in a factory rifle. I mentioned Savage and Tikka and other factory offerings and how I started there as well. Then I very specifically mention the issues I had with them. While also indicating accuracy was not one of them, it was more in the realm of feeding concerns and active hunting useage. Secondly, I’m from a farming community and fully understand both the cost restriction and needs of a true farm truck gun. Most truck guns are not needing extreme accuracy past 300 yards. This is not necessarily what I would suggest for that sort of scenario. Your speed question is a legitimate argument. But for me, a predator hunter and night hunter, I need my rifle to meet a specific set of tasks. Quick access and agility inside the truck cab is paramount. So for me, overall length is a huge deal and an 18” barrel and how much flexibility that gives me…. I’m really pleased with 3100 fps out of factory loads. I’m happy with the trade off. In my non-factory loads I’m able to get substantially more speed, btw. Either way, thanks for watching and thanks for commenting.

@moline800hdyup4 , I agree 100% with your comment. Keep in mind, 22 creed was just SAAMI approved around Jan 2024. I'd bet a dollar that Savage, Howa, etc will be chambering rifles in 22CM for some 2025 offerings. However, the Hornady factory loads shown in the video are only available from the Horizon website. I'm not paying those prices, so I'll be reloading. After anguishing about the price, I finally ordered a Horizon Vandal Prime with a 22" barrel. Should get it in 5 days from my FFL. I have never paid more than $1,000 for a rifle, this will be around $2,557. For your needs, I'm sure your local shop can recommend a more reasonable priced rifle to fit your needs? As for speeds, nothing else I own out groups my 22-250. I just can't help myself with this Horizon 22CM. I'll likely be upset with myself if Savage comes out with a model 110 for $1,200 in January. But I knew what I was getting into. Best wishes and keep doing the Lord's work!
@moline800hdyup43 ай бұрын
@balaton1 thanks for your response and the cost isn't an issue for me but I know until I was in my late 30's it definitely was an issue and I still think about being broke daily and how fortunate I am now. Another thing I can't figure out is why a rifle cost 2500 or more . We all know damn well a action,barrel,stock doesn't cost that much to manufacturer and it's 4 hours labor on a slow day fitting one together so it's either the parts manufacturer selling there name or labor is outrageous.
