@@michaell397 New modern cartridges/chamberings are designed to use long, high BC bullets that typically outperform the older cartridges. Older designs with slow twist rate barrels and chamber specs limit options for efficient bullets. (BTW, 25 cal has a very poor selection of bullets compared to .243) At close ( Point Blank Zero) ranges, the older stuff does great. Once distances are pushed out, they can't keep up with the new stuff. Grats on the fantastic group and thank you for your service. I completed my Air Assault Course at Ft. Hood in '89. 🙂

When i hit 3700+fps with no pressure signs and it shot 0.2in groups and under i was happy why push for more . I am going to try the 156gr to see how they do iam hoping for 33-3400+fps . Now i see their's a wildcat bullet thats 163gr wow the BC is off the chart . I took an Elk with 101gr hammer hunters . That bull was D.R.T . I also took a mule deer at 400yrds and he was also was D.R.T . That means DEAD RIGHT THEIR D.R.T for those who don't know. The hydrostatic shock from that bullet traveling that fast its like a grenade going off inside the animal . And they absorb every ounce of that energy . The reason i didn't make a 6mm I already have a 243-win AI , 6mm-Rem-AI , 6mm sherman Max, custom and a custom 6×6.5-RPM weatherby . Iam covered in 6mm/243cal zone . Awesome coyote gun! I would like to know what you think of the Ryder bipod.
@longrangeprecisionshooters893515 күн бұрын
@@LeviTaylor-w1e I need some more time with it. For a hunting bipod I think it serves a lot of really good purposes. You can adjust a lot and it has a huge range of adjustment which is really nice. And it swivels almost 360° so if you’re hunting out of a high rack, coyote hunting especially… that’s super nice. I talked to the owner about some little tweaks. He’s making updates to it. I think it’s really close to being an excellent option for NRL Hunter match type stuff as well. I really like the carbon fiber feel and the legs adjusting more like a carbon fiber tripod has been cool.

I lean on the side of no matter what it’s a ridiculous conversation. Negates you fit in one of two camps with any rifle, the first being you on shot 5-10 a year maybe 10-20 hunting with your rifle and even a low barrel life case will still last a lifetime but he barrel won’t actually get that beat up because it’s never getting that hot. The second group is burning 200 rounds every time they go shoot and half the reason the barrels won’t last is severe lack of allowing the metal to cool and cranking more and more pressure and heat over it, but these guys probably are spending enough on shooting that a new barrel is peanuts compared to ammo and powers and the action to build on.

I just can’t imagine the cost per shot after you figure it all in….Custom barrel that’s only good for probably 800 rounds made with a custom made reamer. Custom made reloading dies.
