There is something so undefinable about Elvis purely because the word hasn't been created to encompass all of Elvis's attributes and talents. His talents were unrivaled and he exuded this presence, an unmatched energy. He is addictive, compelling, and mesmerizing, there is an allure about him that draws you in and keeps you hooked .

Fabulous concert. The cape Elvis threw into the crowd at the end of the show is currently over here in the UK at the Elvis exhibition London Bridge and the suit that is the same as he wore here but for the rehearsal show. Elvis was super trim and the detail on this outfit is stunning. Also the crown that the fan gave Elvis at the end of the show is also here in the UK. So lovely to see up close. Hard to believe 4 years after this show this gorgeous man was gone!! There is an interview with the director of this show explaining his time with Elvis preparing for this concert. That’s another good watch. Also there is an interview with his good friend Jerry Schilling (around the 10 minute mark) telling the story of the day Elvis met Nixon. All these stories make us see Elvis as the man he was. Thanks Pluto 💙

Thanks much for the concert; great to see it again. Top 5 for this concert in no particular order: "Fever;" "Steamroller Blues;" "An American Trilogy;" "I'll Remember You;" and, "You Gave Me A Mountain." Don't know if you know this but an audience member gave Elvis the King's Crown that he carries off stage with him at the end of the show. Apparently, Elvis had very fond memories of it and the concert as he held onto it (as opposed to giving it away which he did with a lot of things) and it's now on display at Graceland. It'd be really cool if you'd do a reaction to the complete "Elvis On Tour" documentary/show. Thanks again.

I must have watched this video over a hundred times n still gives me chills..Elvis was totally amazing in every way...Gave so much back to all..The Cape he threw in the audience at the end,The man that caught it gave it back to Graceland before he himself passed away... Worth millions.. Vernon was a bit angry at Elvis for doing that.. Elvis told his father" Daddy that don't mean anything to me,I do it because I want to make ppl happy."

just to be clear. Elvis only wrote two or three songs his entire lifetime. he was a performer. a damn good one. he paid all the writers of his covers and all the writers who wrote songs for him. I think perhaps?, he could not even read music?. but it was his performance, his passion, his singing ability, his charisma, that made him "THE KING"!!!

Cissy Houston was with Elvis for just 5 weeks in 1969 in Vegas, she then left to be at home with her children. Many people think she was with Elvis for years but that is incorrect. One problem is that Whitney Houston said her mother was with Elvis for years & so people are going to believe it but it is not true. Notice there are 3 Black backup girls (not including Kathy Westmoreland) -- the original Sweet Inspirations were 4 when it was originally started by Cissy Houston. Elvis did hire a 4th but I don't recall when that was or what her name was.

See how important that runway was for Elvis getting up close to the audience! Thanks to the genius of Marty Pasetta & Elvis' strength in overriding Parker who didn't want the runway built but Elvis wanted it & so it was done -- it would not have been the same if he just stood in front of the band for that entire concert without walking that runway out to the people.

If you don't love this voice.. you're tone deaf.. if you don't appreciate the performance, the passion, the charisma... I'll never understand.. He is the GOAT.. And the question.. yes Elvis was a Homebody.. but is it because he wanted to be or was it because he had no other choice... there's nowhere he could go without being mobbed by fans... end of story.

I love your top 5.. All amazing song from this concert.. but my all time favorite since I was 10 yrs old and didn't even know the meaning behind it.. I was 10 in 1977 when he died.. my mother lost her mind and made me and my older sister record everything on the radio about Elvis.. but I heard.. I I Can Dream...from the 68 Comeback Special... All I know is it was Special.. when I got older and realized the meaning behind the song.. made it more special.. The sad thing is.. there hasn't been much change in the 56 yrs since Elvis put this song out. That's on us as a society. And I feel it's gotten worse.

Jane H commenting …. I loved this concert & watched both the full dress rehearsal the day before, & then the actual live concert. The full dress rehearsal had a sold out crowd also. I also Love the 1970 Las Vegas Live Concerts …. A few great songs with Elvis dancing as he sang, such as Suspicious Minds & Poke Salad Annie & many other great songs. There are lots to choose from on YT but the two mentioned above with dancing are great favourites with us Elvis fans. Also Love Me Tender in his 1970 Las Vegas Live Concert, which is a fun one to watch, mostly due to the expressions on the Reactors faces. But yes I loved the Aloha From Hawaii 1973 Live Concert. Elvis was obviously 3 years younger in the 1970 Vegas concert, & more athletic, so always a joy to watch.

"Fever" written by Eddie Cooley and Otis Blackwell, originally recorded by American R&B singer Little Willie John for his debut album, "Fever (1956)." Peggy Lee's 1958 version became the best known & famous worldwide & was her "signature" song. Some suggestions: "Blue Suede Shoes" ('68 comeback special) from sitting to center stage at kzbin.info/www/bejne/d5yYfHiYnp2Bl8U (2:50 min. w-a great, gorgeous finish. “The Wonder of You” kzbin.info/www/bejne/m5TGhmqLZ8psptk from ’70 Vegas '72 Hampton Roads, Virginia "How Great Thou Art" kzbin.info/www/bejne/iWPZZZyFi5uDnpI '72 Hampton Roads, Virginia - kzbin.info/www/bejne/gn_XgWh9mZ2Efac -- @ very, very start of the video Elvis called out “Please Release Me” but the band began playing “I Can’t Stop Loving You” - he didn’t stop them, he went right into the song, he then walked over to his glass of water, picked it up & playfully threw it at Glen @ piano -- this is a fun, powerhouse, energetic performance. NOTE: if you don’t hear his voice call out “Please Release Me,” back it up more - sometimes the video doesn’t pick up his voice @ start, but it is there & then the water throwing will make sense. Also, note his little look of irritation @ beginning. This song doesn’t get many requests but is really terrific. You’ll see a very different Elvis than from ’68 & ’70.

Elvis didn't need to write his own music as everyone wanted to write songs for him to sing. Elvis was a conveyor of lyrics and in his own personal style made songs come alive. He may have got into writing I believe if he lived a fuller life that wasn't as contractually constrained, but that's the story of another chapter I guess.

loved your reaction though you should've commented when Elvis threw his jewelled cape (worth a fortune) into the audience after the last song because there's a story attached to that as well. Elvis was as stiff as an ironing board here because of his shyness- he moves a lot more when the cameras aren't filming and the sound quality was rubbish.

@@ChefBarb58 no a sports reporter caught the cape and had it for many yrs than sold it to a private collector of Elvis memorabilia who than kept it for the rest of his life he died in 1995 & it was in his will to return it to graceland this is documented his widow returned the cape to graceland when he died its easy to look it up but it is well known it was worth over $8,000 when elvis threw it into the crowd & while the collector had it he had been offered over $50,000 to sell it but turned it down he kept it till the day he died

It's not just him, I've watched every reaction clip with Elvis throwing the cape into the audience and even though they were all watching, not one noticed/commented about it. I'm like HELLO

But I know where you're coming from Belinda, worst Elvis fan nightmare is when you play a clip for a non-believer to watch, and right when Elvis pulls off one of his moves, they look away and miss it. Happened so many times to me I cringe when I watch these reactions waiting for it to happen again

I believe I saw they posted in Elvis and the Black Community that Cissy Houston was only with Elvis two months, the first time he was in Vegas.

No, Elvis hired out the local movie theatre in Memphis called the Memphian to watch latest release movie with his friends, visiting celebrities and a few lucky friends.

He's playing with the women in Fever! Just trying to see what little movements will cause a reaction. You can see, all he had to do was bend a leg!!
