Now you can use this awesome application method which requires less sealing for inkjet printer users AND turn your clear waterslides to act like white waterslides. Save time in creating your custom stainless steel tumblers!
Decals are usually placed on tumblers with epoxy. You have an option for waterslide but you need to think about what color will be under the waterslide. White waterslide can be a pain to work with so this method in my video helps with that not only for a quick seal but also making clear waterslide into a white background waterslide. This is very similar to a temporary tattoo application. Also no more need for white vinyl beneath clear waterslide!

Lovely love the slide you chose, iF I could ask a couple question, I have a tumbler that is dark and I want to apply the slide but want it to show up on the tumbler, you said you sprayed it with white spray paint, just a Matt white or does it matter and how many coats, you spray the top of the slide and then flip it over and the white paint is on the bottom?

It looks like you are painting the image but if you have printed the image mirrored on the waterslide, it just slides off showing image with the white background.

Yes. The white will seal it on its own but on this instance I did both.

I usually let them dry 2 to 4 hours or more. I multitask so as long as they are dry before next step, you are good to go.

I'm a little confused. Are you laying the water slide side down or the white paint side on the cup? What happens To the white paint that overlaps the water slide? How does the white not show over the edges of the clear

White paint side on cup, remove paper backing from top. Print & cut or use scissors to ensure no white edges.

Do you find one coat of the white sufficient? I haven’t done a water slide yet, but I know people do 3 or more coats of the clear. This would be a great time saver too!

I only do 1 coat whether it's clear or white now that I'm printing reverse. Believe me, doing these backwards is a game changer. I recommend spritzing your cup with a dish soap/water mixture before applying though. You don't get much movement otherwise.

No you print inverse. Flip your image, like you do for htv

Thank you! Primarily only "necessary" if words are on image. Image will be backwards if not mirrored.

Great video i just have a few questions do u clear spray again after u put on cup i have done two clear waterslides and done the white spray paint and everytime they roll up off after well during the epoxy im very irritated lol what am i doing wrong plz help

No I don't clear spray after putting on. You just need to make sure there is no water trapped underneath, no air bubbles and let waterslide dry completely before epoxy.

After applying the water slide, did you notice your water slide image showed the texture of the spray paint? Or does your water slide remain smooth. 😀 thx

If you are spraying correctly, there should be no texture to your paint. Spray in thin even coats.

Ok so i printed my decal on clear wateralide,(didnt reverse,was I supp 2?) And coated actual pic side with white paint, Then I got warm water, put some on my cup. Put the painted side DOWN on the cup, Warm rag on top of said decal anD ,IT DIDNT STICK just slid and broke apart?😭 suggestions?

Image must be printed to waterslide flipped/reversed. Then white paint. To apply to cup, wet cup, white paint side down, wet outer part of waterslide. You'll be sliding the backing from the top rather than from underneath using this method.

How does it stick to the cup? Because the adhesive part of the decal would then be face up… would spraying it with an adhesive spray after the white spray paint help it stick to the cup?

It's clear waterslide not a decal. Waterslide doesn't have an adhesive side.

@@HansonLover waterslide doesn't use adhesive. The water helps it to adhere to the cup and then you epoxy over. I recommend watching some basic yt videos for applying waterslide. There are usually good tips and tricks. Some people have a really hard while others no issues. I love waterslides.

White paint is white paint. I use Rustoleum 2x. Epoxy is the clear glass like coating you put on the tumbler after you apply the decal to the cup.

@@skdesigners9452 there's many types of paint. Like enamel is one and so is epoxy, which comes in white and black for appliances and also the clear Crafters use. I accidently ordered white laser and I needed ink jet 🤪 if it's Rust-Oleum 2x that's paint and primer in one. Could u send me a pic of the lable I'd appreciate it. I need this cup finished tomorrow

Yes but I did the clear out of habit. As long as it is being sealed by paint, one or the other is fine depending on need.

OK, that was going to be my question. Why didn't you use the white water slide instead of spray painting it. Was this just an experiment? I like knowing it worked because I have a cup about the same color blue and I was wondering if I could use clear water slide or should I use printable vinyl. I'm always confused when it comes to these which is why I keep the color white or light. But my daughter wanted blue for a gift. Thanks for sharing.

White waterslide seems to have even more issues than clear for falling apart, smudging etc. This allows me to 1) only buy clear waterslide and 2) still be able to use clear on dark backgrounds and 3) have to seal less.

I just bought printable vinyl. I bought a different brand before which always jammed in printer so hopefully this one I'll have better luck. Printable vinyl in theory seems easier than waterslide. We'll see.

When using clear waterslide, you will need to place it on light colored backgrounds otherwise the image gets "lost". On dark backgrounds, use white waterslide or paint clear waterslide with white to get the actual design to show.
