My personal argument: We have had 130 years of increasing gun measures being implemented, there is yet to be a single example of gun control working positively in the favor of the people across the world and through history... Repeating the same experiment with the same variables while expecting different results is the definition of insanity. BTW...Australia still has those problem Obama... Massacres of Australia, before and after the "Buyback" en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_massacres_in_Australia Gun Laws help no one but Government and Criminals, leaving good people defenseless. Criminals dont care about law and Government thinks they are above law, law only applies to the people that follow and obey it. Criminals continue to break the law regardless of what laws are written. People with intent to harm others will still harm others no matter what sign is put out front or what measures are taken...CA, WA, OR, NV, NM, CO, and FL have the strictest Gun Control measures implemented...Chicago City is a "Gun Free" City in a heavily regulated State and they all still have the same issues after implementing those "common sense gun controls"...a continuous rise in murder/crime. There isnt a single example anywhere in the world at any point in time where gun control made a dramatic positive change for the people, it has only helped criminals and government. In the USA where 400 MILLION Firearms are in the Hands of 100 Million Gun Owners (1/3 of the US Population) you would think that there would be more than 12,650 of Deaths by firearms per year (excluding suicides), especially when most household and daily use objects kill many more times the amount of people per year. Most of that 12,650 Deaths are from Gang on Gang Violence, Police Kills, and Accidental Deaths, less than a 3rd of those deaths are from Legal gun owners using them against others and there isn't a single Law that could be imagined that would actually change it for the better but the legislation proposed and implemented creates defenseless victims adding to those numbers as criminals prey on those that cannot defend themselves. 100,000,000 of 400,000,000 Armed and less than a 3rd of 12,650 deaths attributed to those that obey the law - that percentage is insane when the media constantly floats "Gun Violence" (nonsensical term) so often. Hammers, Fists, Knives, Chainsaws, Toothpicks, Cosmetics (Make-Up), Food, Cars, Alcohol, Smoking all kill many more people per year than all firearms combined and Doctors are the 3rd leading cause of Death in the USA (250K) but you don't see any of the movements the firearms industry sees to ban them or regulate/restrict them. What is also crazy is that people think police should have firearms and not gun owners, they fear gun owners but studies have shown that firearm permit holders are 30% more law-abiding than the police. Guns save 250K-3 Million people per year in defensive use against violent crimes (Rape, Muggings, Robbery), many times not even firing a shot. A report of prisoner interviews in 11 states, said that 40% of all those interviewed had not committed a crime "on at least one occasion" because they saw a gun. They had then decided to not commit the crime they had intended because of the increased risk. If that is not crime prevention, and proof of guns saving lives I don't know what is. Is there any other object that SAVES so many people per year? That takes such a small percentage of lives? That is as demonized as firearms? Now on to Mass Killings, these people are MURDERERS...and murder is against the law, yet they are still doing it, they use all types of methods to commit these atrocious behaviors but when its not firearms its usually not reported by the media. There have been 38 Mass Killings with Knives alone since 2006 and the average death count is much higher than the average death count of firearm-related Mass Killings. There are many more with Bombs (Already regulated heavily and Illegal to own without permits), cars, baseball bats, and other objects but when have you seen a report within the USA about these Mass Killings? There is a agenda and a narrative, whether you believe so or not, there is no other reason for the selective reporting of information. They paint a terrible picture on the media that certain guns are worse than others, some are "military assault weapons" (false made up term). They say the AR15 is one of them but the AR15 is not military and nor does it have select fire. Its a tactical looking hunting rifle and have been used in just a handful of Mass Killings, most are committed by handguns and rifles that shoot no more than 5 rounds before reloading. The firearm isnt important, the persons intent, mental stability, and nature is, especially when every Mass Killing has a trend that can easily been seen if you look. All Mass Murderers have been medicated with Psychotropic medications, have mental instability issues. They go to areas with little resistance (Gun Free Zones) that are largely populated, why restricting the access of more people to firearms will only lead to more defenseless victims. Magazine Limits only effect those that obey the law, meaning criminals (murder/assault is already illegal btw) will ignore them and use them anyway no matter what laws are implemented. Magazine restrictions only reduce the chances of a law abiding citizen surviving a deadly scenario as each bullet is a chance at defeating a criminal or murder and limiting those chances is asinine. A person who isnt breaking the law should be able to have what ever they like to defend themselves, no matter how crazy it sounds to anyone else - it is their Right outlined by the Constitution. Are people really that inept where they think people that commit mass murder care what a politician decides to say or sign in to law? Do you think criminals look up what laws they need to follow up until they decide to commit a crime? What is wrong with public servants today - you are supposed to be helping and working FOR the people...not against them. There isnt a piece of legislation that will stop evil people from doing evil things and that is why we need to be armed and ready as that is the only way to ensure safety whether you agree or not. I hear alot of crazy quotes from officials like "why do you need more than 10 rounds?", have they not wondered how accurate people are under stress or fear during a attack? They will miss atleast a handful of shots and the shots the hit the attacker may not even effect them - 10 rounds may be enough for one attacker but what if there are 2? 3? What if they are on PCP/Drunk or on other drugs? You are just creating scenarios where a person is limited in surviving and their life may be saved if they could carry the standard 17 round magazine or more if they would like. You are doing more damage than good with gun laws, an average of 250,000 to 3 million people are saved every year by using their firearms for defense, many times not even firing a shot. What happened to America? Why is it that it's perfectly acceptable to punish good people for the deeds of bad people whenever firearms are involved but not elsewhere? Could you imagine the outrage if you told folks they could no longer purchase pain medication because SOME people abuse them and die from overdoses. Oh and the hordes of people would lament and demand their meds and they would be told "surely you can do without those drugs because even if it saves just one life, it's worth it". Oh the people would be outraged and it's not even a Constitutional RIGHT to take prescription drugs. I mean, that's just one random example but you get the point. Why are good, law abiding citizens of the United States of America having their God given rights stripped away based on the actions of a handful of evil people? It makes no sense whatsoever, yet they call it "common sense" go figure.

Further, I believe it's allowed to not perform the background check, but is most often done anyway. It's a good step to take for the dealer, and for the seller in case a crime IS committed by the buyer. On top of that, going through a licensed FFL is the best insurance for the seller against being the last known purchaser or registered owner.

I like how he conflates owning a gun, which is a neutral act, to actual crime. Most laws, since the beginning of human civilization, have been made against behaviors with necessarily negative consequences for the rights of others (e.g. murder, robbery ,rape et cetera). Possession of an item has no such consequences and that's why the prohibition of items, weather it be drugs or guns, is stupid and an exercise in futility. Banning neutral items because someone will misuse them is silly, precisely because it serves only to keep those items out of the hands of people who likely would not misuse them, while criminals would continue to break the law and obtain guns through whatever nefarious sources they can find. While mass shooters might find it slightly more difficult to find a gun, violent criminals who perpetrate the vast majority of gun violence in the country would remain unaffected, as they already make their living through the black market that Stevie boy thinks is so hard to gain access to. I think worse than his disengenous, puerile arguments are his lame, cringy attempts at humor. His tries to be a political comedian but utterly fails on both fronts. He's just another lame, inauthentic virtue-signaling, white-knight leftist who wants to oversimplify complex issues to people who already agree with his worldview.

When I was 27 years old, I had to get surgery done, which left me vulnerable and alone after I got home for several days. A man came to my door in the middle of the night, around 2:30 AM, claiming he was lost and wanting water. I lived in a cabin in the middle of nowhere near Tannersville, NY and thought it was highly suspicious they wouldn't go to my more visible neighbor's house, so I hobbled over to my closet and grabbed a pistol out of my small safe. That was when the guy started trying to bust down my door, but the chain lock stopped him from getting all the way through. He saw me hobbling back as I chambered a round and he ran. I got lucky because even being a vet, trained in budo taijutsu, I stood no chance against this large, uninjured man in my weakened state... except my instinct to grab a gun. This was the incident that pushed me to concealed carry with a round in the chamber. Had he gotten through the door before I loaded and chambered, I may not even be here.

@spongeintheshoe3 жыл бұрын
@@HorkSupreme The same could be said of any law.
@HorkSupreme3 жыл бұрын
@@spongeintheshoe That's true, so then we need to examine whether the purpose of a law is achieved, if it disproportionately negatively effects law abiding citizens, and whether it has some moral basis. For gun laws the said purpose is to reduce the amount of deaths through violence. From what I've seen the deaths in the gun category move to another category when a restriction or ban is placed and that's if it changes at all through criminals not being able to access guns. Which, if they are criminals, don't care about doing so legally because that's what makes them criminal. So it didn't really solve anything because it's not looking at the reason why such killings occur. But what about other effects of such a law? Now law abiding citizens are stripped of the ability to defend themselves with a particularly effective weapon. Effective in the sense that anyone can use it, so a feeble person can defend themselves against a strong attacker. Those citizens that wouldn't have done criminal activity are now claimed that they will unless they give up their weapons. It's a witch hunt, irrational accusations of wrong doing are tossed about because of fear on no basis of fact. Killing was already illegal, covering the supposedly purpose of gun bans so why continue to try to make laws criminalizing the same thing? Precisely due to what those other laws' effects are, which means their whole narrative is dishonest in their intent. Which you can clearly comprehend when they say if you are pro gun you want more dead kids, as if that's the only motivation for keeping one's guns. Since the consequences of gun laws is to harm a citizen's ability to defend themselves, while not achieving its purpose and such restrictions apply mostly to non-deviant behavior as most citizens already aren't using their guns in what we've already classified as criminal activity, then we can label it immoral. The ability to live (which is what all morality ultimately supports) requires being able to defend oneself from threats. Any attempt to prevent or stop one from exercising self defense is a threat upon that person's life.

@joshualittle8773 жыл бұрын
Yes they are more limited but guess what? That's a fairly recent thing. We have a right to keep and bear arms and had one before the Constitution. As Justice Scalia pointed out in his very long majority opinion in the Heller vs DC case and every one should know, the Second Amendment does not give us the right to keep and bear arms. It protects an already existing right from government infringement. Many things led to the American Revolution but the actual shooting war started over Brittish Soldiers attempting to seize Colonial Armories and as citizens to include Colonial Militiamen always had arms on the as well as in the home they were able to defend their stored armaments. You see as I said the Revolution had many causes the oft quoted taxation without representation should read no legislation without representation. The Colonists because of the US location and inhospitable nature at the time had from the beginnings enjoyed quite a bit of autonomy for quite a while. When they began to object to taxation and some other laws supported by both the Crown and Parliment( that's something that always seems to be forgotten most of our problems were coming from Parliment not just King George) They began to show signs of rebellion and in addition there were many Scott's and Irish in the Colonies that had very warm relations with England's enemy France. This led The Crown and Parliament to not just tax but begin to attempt rolling back not just the colonies level of autonomy but also to restrict their rights as English Subjects. The right to keep and bear arms for example was a staple of English Common law dating back the Alfred the Great of Wessex when he retired Wessex to fight the Vikings. Its why Wessex remained to only Kingdom of early Britian the Vikings didn't conquer. Thats the reason that Netflix series is called "The Last Kingdom". Wessex was the last Kingdom not dominating by the Vikings..So what the American Colonists fought for was both representation and also a restoration of the rights as English subjects. The right under English Common law has been completely eroded because in those countries almost anything can be voted away if they even get to vote the issue to begin with. We fortunately 240 years ago decided to be different our rights don't come from the government and they can't just be voted away.

I noticed how the comedian's 7th argument - "mass murders are everyone's business" - was selectively applied. If a large number of murders is everyone's business, why not apply that logic to the tens upon tens of thousands of babies murdered by abortion? Something tells me Mr Comedian Man wouldn't see it that way.

Termination of a "fetal cell cluster" is legal. If a medical professional were to terminate 3 or more fetal cell clusters in one location during a relatively short duration, then yes mass murder otherwise just spree killing... unless they only terminate these cell clusters found in biologically gender birth assigned females... then that's a serial killer. Since it's not a crime, getting rid of guns is the next best option.

@Paul Martin it's the framing of the idea. It's like when FBI catch a sex trafficker/pedophile with 20 kids.... there's usually a charge of "mail fraud" thrown in just for optics. The clinical distancing that medical persons need to be able to perform life and death decisions vs the legal code of a court or moral code of a society are very often not in sync. So an unauthorized 3rd (murder) will be viewed as bad, but a sanctioned 3rd party (abortion clinic) will be okay even if the mother dies..... because legal codes allow for certain levels of risk. I just find it funny (ironic) that the groups that support gun confiscating and abortions... their demographic numbers are declining year by year... in 20 years they'll have fewer Blue voters that any anti 2A laws can be overturned by a new generational red majority.

Be wary. Notice how he said pistols were used more often than rifles in shootings and that's not the only time he said it. He also supports the current 4473's which present all of your information on the front page for the ATF to take a photo every year they check paperwork for FFLs. He also directly funded the ATF by purchasing a supressor and paying their tax stamp.

@@Chewee394 Silly arguments you presented. One, he's pointing out the stats when it comes to what kinds of firearms are used most often in crime. That's simply stating a fact. Two, the 4473 only shows proof of purchase. It does not keep track of ownership of the firearm once it is sold, so the ATF may know that you bought the gun, but they don't know if you still have it - i.e. sold it, lost it in a boating accident, etc. Third, ANYONE who has bought a suppressor has paid for the tax stamp. So by your logic every person who has bought a suppressor is conspiring with the ATF. 🙄
@Chewee3943 жыл бұрын
@@riboflavinfolate3964 one, the ATF and anti-2a lawyers will still use his words to try and get rid of pistols. Two, the ATF absolutely tracks firearms purchases. They will go to down the chain of ownership until they get to your house and pressure you until you give in arrest you for withholding evidence. Third, anyone who bought a suppressor IS directly supporting the ATF. The tax stamp does absolutely nothing but help give the ATF an extra paycheck which helps them continue to function unconstitutionally.

Here is another statement about gun registration. My wife and I used to live in California. We lived in the foothills east of Sacramento Ca. at the end of a 9 mile dirt road. I have been around and used guns my entire life and consider myself a responsible gun owner. All the guns I owned at the time I registered with the State of California as required paying a registration fee for everyone of them. My wife and I went away for a weekend, when we returned we found that all of the guns (which were hidden) were stolen. I called the county sheriff, a deputy came out and I got a police report on the theft. For insurance reasons I had a list of serial numbers for the guns. I contacted the state police and not one of the guns which I registered with the state showed up on any data base. Not one. We have since moved away from California to a state that does not require gun registration and somehow we feel a whole lot safer. Gun registration does not work, will never stop violent gun crime. I believe that gun ownership is a right, weapon training should be readily available. And fine if you don't want to own a gun fine. I have no trouble with that. Just don't try to take away my right to own one.
