I've just installed mine and I'm very impressed with the system. I've set up the detection zones the cameras and set it up to send me emails when it detects someone at the door. Also I've installed a mic to the front door camera so I have sound. So all good up to now.

To anyone watching - the resolution of the VGA/HDMI by Default is NOT SUITABLE for all TVs!! Use a computer monitor and change it to 1280x720 which then worked on my Sony TV (In HDMI)

If you put a drive in larger than 2TB make sure to format FIRST as NTFS otherwise the Floureon storage software will show a drive error and you won't be able to do anything with it. My 16 Ch has 4TB drive and it records 24/7 on 10 channels for about 3 months before overwriting oldest recordings first.

+simon brown The DVR monitors the footage for movement. If your camera has just a power and BNC/RCA (phono) connector then it should work no problems. You may need a BNC to Phono adaptor To use it on the box but these are pennies from ebay/amazon.

Hi Kriss, I have an 8 channel floureon and I have only been able to add 6 of the 8 cameras. I have checked all of the local settings such as recording and playback reflects 8 channels in channel type. I have tried the two cameras in other slots and they do not work. But they work on an alternative system. The cameras are pal cameras supplied by floureon. Any thoughts to this problem?

Hi mate I just bought this set up and I have blank screen on my TV. I have read that these are set from the factory with to low a res for my TV to pic up? I've read I need to connect with a VGA cable first to a monitor then change the res, then it will work on my TV via hdmi. Any advice appreciated

+Ross Hood Hi Ross, I'm not sure of the exact frame rate but when playing back the recording the footage is smooth. You often see CCTV footage on youtube that is 'jumpy' but this is watchable and would not miss any part of an event due to a slow frame rate. I would estimate it's at least 20fps. Hope that helps. In full darkness very good...if you have Street lighting the IR leds don't kick in and the picture can look grainy.

Hi Kris I have just upgraded to 8 channel Floureon installed by a professional with view to have remote monitoring. I have two sets of different make of cameras . The DVR works OK during the day light but the DVR produce very frequent bleeps as it get dark and some of the cameras either no longer broadcast or the picture is distorted badly . What could be wrong with it ? When i put my old DVR back all camera broadcast perfectly . the technician has been trying different things but nothing worked. can some one help please

If that's giving you a tingle, it's a poor PSU design with poor separation or a leaky anti interference capacitor linking HT and low voltage stages. I've just ordered a current model Floureon so I'll test for secondary to phase leakage when it arrives.

Hi, no its not required, you just won't have the ability to record the cctv footage. Have you tried another PSU? The one that comes with the cameras should work. If you don't have one for the cameras any 12v psu would power it (500ma+, centre-positive) as long as no HD is fitted.

Just one lead (combined video and power) from the camera to the box. The screen will connect via a short cable depending on where it is located.

I have a red and yellow connector that fits to the camera end no problem but where does the red connector go at the back of the harddrive? Mine doesn't fit anywhere 😕

The red connector is for power. You should have got a DC mains PSU with your kit and they usually come with a 1 to 4 power splitter.

great video, had enough of my Tenvis and Foscam ip cams cutting out, also Virgin media have all of a sudden stopped me from using the port mapping to port forward my cams so can't view them outside my network without upgrading to a business account gggrrr. but this setup kills two birds with one stone.ps. spooky I've got same invisible car in my garage but have a pic of a Lancaster Bomber on the wall lol. Dont be tempted (as I was) to use the 'better' power cable from the dona SkyBox instead of the one already in the control unit as it stopped the mouse working until I put the original power cable back in...dont know why.

Hi there I have a floureon CCTV the setup screen looks the same as this however my clock keeps drifting approx 30 mins a month, is there a way to sync this to the Network so won't drift please?

There should be an option in settings to use a NTP (Network Time Protocol) server - if you google "ntp server address" you can just pop the IP address in and it will sync the time. Hope this helps - let me know!

Good work .. I have a problem with getting any display out off the HDMI or VGA . On the HDMI to any TV I'm getting no display at all, on the VGA if I turn the monitor on I get the white screen with floureon then goes to blank screen with a warning scan out of range 60hz to 64hz. I can see the displays on my phone..

+kevin james The screen resolution is set too high for your display. You will need to reset your box. Search Google for your screen's maximum supported resolution and then set that in the box settings.

I bought my floureon cctv system without realising I needed to buy a separate hard drive about 2 years ago now. I managed to get a 2tb Seagate one for 20 pounds brand new. If you only want to use your cameras purely to monitor and you don't intend on switching them off at the mains anytime soon so that it'll forget your time and current settings then the hard drive won't necessarily be needed but if you want it to record and be able to use the playback features and for the system to remember your settings if you want to switch it off at the mains then a hard drive will be essential :)

If I install a hdd, is it possible to continously record and overwrite automatically without having to manually delete previous footage or format? I don't want to have to manually format or delete every few days/weeks.

+Roy Stokes The system will over-wright the old footage...depending on the size of the HDD you will have a good few days worth. I have a 320gb in mine and it records around 8 days worth (2 cameras) if I had 4 cameras it would be around 4 days.
