Just as an addition to my joke at the end (which I thought was very topical although some didn't 'get it') the system has the ability to 'mask' areas on each camera (turns those areas black) so as not to be able to see or record you neighbours property etc which I've already done.

I was going to ask, the version you have looks to be the turret version which only comes with a mic. Is it possible to disable that in the settings to ensure you don't capture the audio of neighbours, which as @The_Judge_ says was the main issue in the recent ruling?

Very nice vid for an amateur installation.If you're REALY after security peace of mind double or triple the amount of cameras .We live in a bungalow so you are lucky you can mount the cameras out of reach ,we have the problem a determined burglar could simply spray the cameras by creeping up using a blind spot so you need to cover all the blind spots .All our cameras are covered by other cameras removing any blind spots. Your BIG problem will be spiders and unlike us you cant just brush the webs away lol .Another tip is remove the reference to watching the neighbours if you fall out with them they can use data protection laws to send you to court as you have historically said (even in jest) your cameras will be watching them .PS hope your burglers dont come on a foggy night your movement detection will be in overdrive recording fog! The masking feature unfortunately falls on its head if you use a PTZ camera and if you get addicted you will use them lol For older network cable systems you can simply add POE with a cheap dongle no need to replace an older NVR for newer cameras PPS remove the down pipe reference those naughty burglars now know where to cut your cables

Another great video Stuart. I recently installed the Ring security light/camera combos on front and back. I couldn’t face drilling through the render and brickwork for the cables so took the easier option and just unscrewed two existing up/down lights and replaced with the Rings. The only issue is that they’re only about 7-8feet from the ground so a reasonably tall person could easily disable them with their hand….
@AccountantDoesDIY2 жыл бұрын
Also meant to ask - do you also have external insulation on the house between the brickwork and the white render? On your various projects where you’ve drilled through the render is there anything specific one has to bear in mind for such ext insulation? Other than using silicone around the holes I’m hoping there’s nothing else !

@@ProperDIY - I thought that as well, but their website clearly states "2Tb" and I didn't see any other option. Maybe they'll check your video to see the feedback, and offer a solution. (Just asking for a friend...)

Lots of camera systems are great for daytime, any chance of a nighttime review?

Another good video Stuart. However, having PoE cameras connected to your main LAN is suicide. You really need that channeled through a managed switch on an isolated VLAN with mac filtering.

Yes, agree, ideally you should isolate the camera's from the internet entirely, but you will lose the ability to view on your phone if not at home more than likely.

@@elminster8149 That's where VPN tunnels come in. It's always worth mentioning as IP cameras are stupidly easy to hack - if they're on the same network as all your important/personal stuff, it could be goodnight Vienna.

Hasnt he connected them into the poe ports on the back of the nvr? They wont be on his main LAN
@richardclarke99663 жыл бұрын
@@HubbHubbs Unless he's configured an isolated network for the NVR, it will be. That wasn't mentioned so I presume not, as it's a DiY channel, not a networks channel

These rebadged hikvision NVRs have 2 seperate network cards in them, one for the LAN side and one for the 8 x poe ports, in the network section you can set the ip range for the LAN and the internal NIC is seperate.

Hi, do you know if the discount code has now expired? I've tried to use it on the Annke H800 system and its not valid. 😕. Appreciate its a few months since the review.
