it just depends on how much the clutch is engaged and disengaged........beacause when the blades are spinning nothing is wearing out except the upper thrust bearing but ive never seen that bearing fail

Oh hell, the difference is night and day, back to original drive spec :-)) Must be very satisfying to bring a machine back up to spec, and know youve done a good job for your customer :-)

Hi ther, I was trying to change the transmission shaft, but it was all rusted out, and the internal shaft from inside the motor came out, I haven’t try to put it back in yet, just wandering if it just goes in by pushing it in, or does it take another procedure to put back ? Help please, thanks

Good Afternoon. I just discovered you and your channel. Thank you for taking the time out of your busy day to make your videos, and helping us. I watched part 1 last night. And I just finished watching part 2 now. My question is what were the symptoms that the lawnmower was doing that made you want to inspect the clutch. I have a Honda HRX 217. And it has a few different problems going on with it. One problem is that I start it up, and it idles okay. As soon as I press the button to engage the blades, the idle drops to where it almost stalls. Then it will catch itself, and the idle will raise to around normal. And the blades will spin and I can cut the grass. And I have to keep repressing the blades button. Because as I'm cutting the grass, it disengage the blades by itself. It idles okay. But one minute your cutting grass, then your just pushing an idling mower. Are either of those a sign of a burned out/ used up clutch? The mower is about 10 years old. I cut about a half an acre of grass in my yard a week, during cutting seasons ( I live in New England ). I haven't had it serviced. Because the shop on the other side of town wants around $ 100.00 just to pick it up. And it could be a few weeks for return. And where I originally bought it new. They want over & 300. 00 to pick it up. And they will return it whenever. Thank you for all of your great videos. Keep up the great work.

The blades would stop spinning while mowing. And If it wants to die when engaging blades then I would suspect a fuel delivery issue

I got this far on my own. If you need a KZbin video for this easy stuff, just put the wrenches down!! Now how about the the REAL part 2, flywheel removal
@shawnmrfixitlee647810 жыл бұрын
You never cleaned up the flywheel that the friction disk runs on .. I always run some light sand paper and some brake cleaner on that disk .. they tend to have built up friction shoe stuck on them ..

.cleaning of parts is common sense.....somtimes i take a 90 deg die grinder with a scotch brite pad and clean the clutch driver and the blade brake rim.....thanks for the comment

Hi Jeremy. I changed my clutch on my HRC216HXA just as you show in the video but now the blades don't turn. I checked the cable adjustment on the blade control lever and it's fine. Any ideas what could possibly be wrong?

Hey, I replaced the blade holder. The spring and clutch were in good condition. But now the mower vibrates a lot until I engage the blade and then it smooths out. When I release the blade it vibrates severely again. Took it apart and everything looks normal. Any ideas?

Crank is bent. Remove clutch and spark plug and have a friend pull starter. You will see it. And it doesn't take much.

is honda the only mower with this clutch set up??? all ive seen have belt and pulley
@jbplays73025 жыл бұрын
This is the set up on some of the older HRB215's and the commercial grade HRC 216. But the mowers with a blade brake all have some sort of clutch configuration. I have an HRB215, HRX217 and a HRC216. Personally I like the old HRB the best. You can't kill that thing!!!

I just reinstalled my clutch pack on my mower exactly like this now the stupid thing is locked so tight I can't even turn it over. I can't figure out what went wrong! I didn't use a impact wrench either..

Thank you. I had to reduce the torque a bit, it's not factory spec but at least its working properly. I'll be sure to use some emery cloth on the disc next time it's off.
